The
IAQ General Meeting 2022 was held online & onsite on 18-19 May 2022 (at 4:00am
& 11:00pm in HK time zone on 19 May). In Day 2, Acn. Elizabeth Keim (Chair)
gave welcome speech in the beginning.
The
first guest speaker was Vivek Talwar and his topic named “The compelling need
for Quality to move into the next level by becoming a champion of Sustainability”.
Firstly, Mr. Talwar mentioned climate change and its impacts. He suggested that
we need to refine/redefine our strategies on sustainability.
Then
he explained different directions on sustainable development including environmental,
economic and social dimension. He suggested
the use of quality initiatives to achieve improvements and ensure a strong foundation
of sustainability.
After
that Mr. Talwar stated that leader usually defined the reason of existence of
the enterprise and sustainability focused in enterprise strategy and quality
focused in operation. Mr. Talwar said ideally quality covers this entire spectrum.
Finally,
he concluded the tenets of quality for designing and delivering on World-class
programs for all key stakeholders through the sustainability journey. For
instance, create awareness in the quality ecosystem, transforming the role of quality
embracing sustainability and come up with something like “Seven QS tools”.
Then
Prof. Kano gave comments that the presentation reminded him 50 years ago. In
1969, the first ICQC conference was held and for establishing IAQ. We were
talking about quality is not only by inspection, but by process and by
production. We had no idea at that time. Similarly, sustainability is different
subjects we talk about that related to quality in society but how we can govern
it. It is not only for organization but society governance. So how can quality
professional work for it.
Next
section is Acn. Narayanan Ramanathan to present Examining Committee Report
including new members admitted and transition from associate to academician.
And
then he briefed the committee duties and rules, as well as, some comments by
committee members.
After that new
member introduction and presentation section performed.
Kim Stansfield is first new
member presented his quality journey including QM and Systems Engineering
pathway. Moreover, he distributed video link for his presentation details.
He
concluded that systems thinking is foundation and modern QFD is the bridge
between customer and business needs.
Anders
Fundin is the second new member for self-introduction. His research focused on quality
and sustainability.
Erika
Leonardi is the third new member. She is quality training consultant and writer.
Her slogan is “Method and Passion”.
The
next session is “Reports on Healthcare and UN Global Compact work” by Bob King.
He discussed what tools could be employed for 150 countries for healthcare
innovation, especially on complex supply chain we faced now.
Acn.
Willy Vandenbrande reported the IAQ Quality Sustainability Award. The purpose
of the award is to identify and share good examples of how quality management
principles, methods and tools have been used to develop more sustainable
solutions and offerings while also reducing waste and optimizing the use of resources.
The award 2022 started to be applied from 1st Jun 2022.
The session
before lunch was “Think Tank Reports” chaired by Acn. Lars Sorqvist.
Acn. Raúl Molteni (chair of
QiGTT) presented Quality in Governance Think Tank (QiGTT) 2022 guidelines
He
also briefed timeline of quality contributions to corporate governance.
Acn.
Glenn Mazur introduced a new think tank named “Voice of Customer Think Tank”.
VOC vision 2024 and user dimensions from level 1 to 3 were described.
The
framework is based on SIPOC and also employed 5W1H for user scenarios.
Acn.
Miroslav Drljaca presented the Quality in Logistics Think Tank (QiLTT) was established
since Aug 2021. QiLTT offered an
alternative approach to understanding global phenomena such as logistics, for
the future development.
Acn.
Matthew Barsalou (Vice-chair, QiETT) introduced the mission and vision in the
beginning. And then he reported the activities of Quality in Education Think
Tank (QiETT). There were 14 white papers published and target to 17 white
papers by end of 2023.
Acn.
Lars Sorqvist gave closing remark in think tank session and he said “Think
Tanks offers a great way to fulfil the purpose of IAQ and at the same time
develop a more active Academy!”

session after lunch break.)

New member
introduction and presentation section:
Rey Fremista,
Joe DeFeo, Pat La Londe and Nicole Radziwill.
Nicole
Radziwill presented her quality journey through video link that distributed to
IAQ member.
Her
future plan by 2030 focused on data management, data engineering and data
science that would be driven by quality.
