I was honor to service as member of the Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee since 2015. The Steering Committee Meeting 2024 and lunch was held on 15^th Nov 2024. We took a group photo for memory.

Kathy Fu(HKPMAC Lab Manager) reported the status of laboratory and its accredition assessment results in the past year.

We had discussed internship by PolyU and will continuously support FYP students.

After the meeting, we had a lunch together.

The Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre Steering Committee Meeting 2023

After 3 years Covid period and online meeting, I was honor to be invited for attending the Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee meeting 2023 that is face-to-face meeting, as well as, lunch on 2^nd Nov 2023.

Kathy Fu(HKPMAC Lab Manager) reported the status of accredition in the past year. We had discussed the new version of ISO standard and followup actions to HOKLAS.

 

After the meeting, we had a lunch together and I learn many knowledge from gold market and its relationship with interest rate.

The Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre Steering Committee Meeting 2022

 I was honor to be invited again as member of Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee in this year. I served HKPMAC to give opinions on Quality Assurance in Laboratory under "Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme" since 2015.  HKPMAC is an independent testing laboratory that established in 2010 by The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE). This is the third year we had zoom meeting under the Covid pandemic period.

The HKPMAC Steering Committee member list was found in CGSE website under ‘Corporate Structure’.

Kathy Fu(HKPMAC Lab Manager) reported the status of accredition in the past year and Mr Brian Fung (CGSE-CEO) gave comments. We had also discussed the new development of the centre such as new version of ISO standard and inhouse calibration for equipment, etc. I captured a group photo at the end of meeting.

Remark: I met Dr. Haywood Cheung (President, The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society) last night for the 6^th & 7^th CityU Distinguished Alumni Award Presentation Ceremony. Moreover, Dr. Haywood Cheung is the 5th Distinguished Alumni Awardee in 2018.

The Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre Steering Committee Meeting 2021

I was honor to be member of Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee to give opinion on Quality Assurance in Laboratory under "Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme" since 2015.  HKPMAC is an independent testing laboratory that established in 2010 by The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE). In Covid pandemic period, I still selected to perform the meeting online.

Kathy Fu(HKPMAC Lab Manager) reported the status and Mr Brian Fung (CGSE-CEO) gave comments. We had also discussed the technical change such as new version of ISO standard.  We found that the retention of new generation was very difficult.

I was honor to be member of Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee to give opinion on Quality Assurance in Laboratory since 2015.  HKPMAC is an independent testing laboratory that established in 2010 by The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE).  In order to tie in with the internationalized standards and requirements of precious metal industry, HKPMAC was set up and obtained the qualification of accredited laboratory under "Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme" of the Hong Kong Accreditation Service.

The 2nd Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre Steering Committee Meeting

I was honor to be invited by Mr. Brian Fung (CEO, The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society) to be member of Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee to give opinion on Quality Assurance in Laboratory.  HKPMAC is an independent testing laboratory that established in 2010 by The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE).  In order to tie in with the internationalized standards and requirements of precious metal industry, HKPMAC was set up and obtained the qualification of accredited laboratory under "Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme" of the Hong Kong Accreditation Service. Recently, new standard version of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 would be implemented in Hong Kong Laboratory, HKPMAC had prepared for new standard accreditation.  In the beginning, we took a photo for memory.

Dr. Vicki Fong and I received the CGSE souvenir which is the traditional hand weighing scale.

Very interested and I tried to weight HKSQ pin.

At the end, we took a group photo for memory after the 2^nd Steering Committee meeting.

Visit to Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre under CGSE

I was honor to be invited by Mr. Dicky Lo (CEO, The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society) to visit their laboratory named Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre Ltd. (HKPMAC) today. Ms. Kathy Fu (Laboratory Manager, HKPMAC) led me to visit the facilities and introduced their service to me. We took a photo in the laboratory for memory.

HKPMAC is an independent testing laboratory that established in 2010 by The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE). In order to tie in with the internationalized standards and requirements of precious metal industry, HKPMAC was set up and obtained the qualification of accredited laboratory under "Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme" of the Hong Kong Accreditation Service. The testing scopes are included Fire Assay – Cupellation Method and Difference Method by ICP-OES. Apart from gold fineness testing, they would like to expand their service to jewellery industry in future.

I took a photo with Ms. Kathy Fu in front to the laboratory and they performed good physical security.

The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE) founded in 1910 and is the sole exchange in Hong Kong which trades physical gold and silver, and operates in pursuance of section 3 of Chapter 82 of Laws of Hong Kong, under which its operation as a commodity exchange is legally exempted.
It is the first time I visit their office and laboratory. Moreover, I joined the dinner of the Joint Ceremony to Celebrate the Inauguration of the 44th Term Executive & Supervisory Committees of CGSE, the 105th Anniversary of CGSE and the Launch of “Shanghai-Hong Kong Gold Connect” on 10 July 2015.

Ceremony Dinner for the Launch of “Shanghai-Hong Kong Gold Connect”

I was honor to be invited by Mr. Dicky Lo (Chief Executive, The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society Charity Fund Limited) for the dinner of the Joint Ceremony to Celebrate the Inauguration of the 44th Term Executive & Supervisory Committees of CGSE, the 105th Anniversary of CGSE and the Launch of “Shanghai-Hong Kong Gold Connect”. The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE) founded in 1910 and is the sole exchange in Hong Kong which trades physical gold and silver, and operates in pursuance of section 3 of Chapter 82 of Laws of Hong Kong, under which its operation as a commodity exchange is legally exempted.

The Officiating Guest included The Honourable John C Tsang, GBM, JP (Financial Secretary, HKSAR Government).

Mr. John C Tsang said thank for CGSE contribution to Hong Kong economics and it was also an opportunity to contribution on internationalization of RMB( Ren Min Bi).

The ceremony of the launch of “Shanghai-Hong Kong Gold Connect” performed and then the first day transaction of Gold was ONE ton and cost RMB 230M (2.3億人民幣)!

There are almost 100 tables.

Finally, I would like to introduce CGSE’s “Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre” established in 2010, which obtained the HOKLAS accreditation and has conducted course on “Certificate in Gold and Silver Market” in collaboration with the Hong Kong Securities Institute and published “Study Learning Manual” to enhance practitioners’ professional knowledge about precious metals markets and their integrity.
