Meeting HKSTP old colleague- Mr. Peter Mok in CityU

I was happy to meet Mr. Peter Mok (Former Head, Incubation Programmes, HKSTP) in the CityU innovation tunnel this afternoon. I guess he might be attending a HK Tech 300 meeting.

Now, Mr. Peter Mok is general manager served in Shenzhen Qianhai Ehub Operation Co., Ltd. Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (Ehub) was jointly initiated by the Qianhai Authority, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and the Shenzhen Youth Federation, and is operated by Shenzhen Qianhai Ehub Operation Co., Ltd. It serves as a stepping stone for young people from Hong Kong and Macao, aiming to become their "first stop" for mainland development. It provides a stage, expands opportunities, creates conditions, and offers prospects for numerous young people from Hong Kong and Macao to showcase their talents in Qianhai.

Then I went to SYE Dept to get my new name card.

I had written an article to HKIE stated Hong Kong startup ecosystem from university to accelerator in 2021.

Lunch with old colleagues of HKSTP

Dr. HL Yiu invited me to have lunch with Ms. Tinny Lui on 31st July 2025. We selected the restaurant named “PENTOLA” in Tai Po. During the lunch, we took a photo for memory.

I arrived early and took a photo of the sculpture and the restaurant’s brand.

HL introduced some good foods to us.

The location of “PENTOLA” is in Tai Po Arts Centre (TPAC). Retrofitted from the former Tai Po Government Secondary School, TPAC is a project under the Signature Project Scheme (SPS) proposed by Tai Po District Council to the Government.

HKSQ Technical Visit to Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC)

HKSQ organized a technical visit to Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC) on 17 Feb 2023 and CityU EngD Society is supporting organization. Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) is another organizer for this event. HKSTP pioneers the state-of-theart Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC) at Tseung Kwan O INNOPARK, providing a gross floor area of about 108,580m2. The AMC equips companies of different scales with scalable, efficient, and dedicated logistics serviced manufacturing space, and assists them in embarking on technological innovation, high value-added and low volume but highly customized production with the application of advanced manufacturing and testing processes.

Before the event started, we met many HKSQ members and took some photos for memory.

(Left: Dr. Jane Wong, Dr. Roy Wong, Dr. Vincent Fung, Mr. Roger Choi and I)

I also met EngD cohort Dr. Gaby Kun and Ms. Kelly Liu (Dr. TW Liu’s Daughter).

Another EngD cohort Dr. Brian Lo joined the event.

We also took a photo with Dr. HL Yiu.

He is responsible person for AMC and introduced INNOPARKS background in the beginning.

The overall INNOPARKS components and key buildings were briefed.

The evolution of Industry Estates from IE1.0 to INOPARK through I&T driven, critical process and traditional pillars to support suitable industries in Hong Kong.

And then he introduced the infrastructure of AMC.

PROSHOP is aimed to demonstrate smart manufacturing technologies and accelerate the commercialization of startup in Hong Kong such as quick developing prototype of new electronic product.

After introduction briefed, we took a photo with Dr. HL Yiu. The first organization is HKGCC. Dr. Stephen Ng (Left 5th) is also our senior HKSQ member long time ago and serviced in PolyU for many years.

Then HKSQ and CityU EngD Society took a photo with Dr. HL Yiu for memory.

(Left: Dr. Gaby Kun, Ms. Kelly Liu, Mr. Roger Choi, Dr. Lotto Lai, Dr. HL Yiu, Dr. Jane Wong, Dr. Vincent Fung, Dr. Roy Wong and Ms. Taurus Chu)

After the introduction session, we visited the AMC building. Firstly, Ms. Sheron Sit mentioned the background.

And then we visited the PROSHOP venue and the infrastructure was almost finished and waiting for tenant to move-in and operation.

Another empty plant for rental was also visited. The floor is very high and suitable for specific need manufacturing process.

Automatic warehouse was demonstrated.

The automatic carrier moved the goods to the warehouse.

The goods moved to another warehouse for packing and deliver through conveyer.

The inspection and packing were demonstrated.

The lifting arm was observed and the loading is up to 30.5 tons!

At the end, we all come back to the hall. Ms. Guido Leenknegt introduced their Innovation solution from HKPC.

They formed Hong Kong Industrial Artifical Intelligence and Robotics Centre (FLAIR) through AIR@InnoHK funding by INC and HKPC.

Dory Garden Grand Opening

Minda and I were honor to be invited by Dr. Vincent Fung to join his friends startup Dory Garden Grand Opening on 3rd Dec 2022.  Dory Garden is invested by a company from Science Park and employed their technology for Oyster. So, this grand opening introduces their product to all guests. We took a photo during enjoying oyster.

The Dory Garden is located in Nim Wan Rd, Lau Fau Shan. Driving is better but we took a taxi also convenience. It also provides camping services.

When we arrived, Dr. Jess Gu led us and introduced the environment.

The grand opening started and Mr. Gary Wong gave welcoming speech.

Then they performed a roasted pig cutting ceremony.

All guests tasted the roasted pig.

Dr. Jess Gu introduced the operation of handling the Oyster.

Then Dr. James Leung introduced the technology of using Selenium (Se) to activate Oyster growth and self-cleaning. The life cycle of Oyster is from 6 months to 3 years depending on types of Oyster. Their technology is to keep oyster for 2 days fresh.

The taste is very good. I don’t like to eat fresh oyster because of creamy texture. But I like this oyster after treatment is chewy texture (爽口).

After that we visited the camping facilities.

These areas are reserved for nourishing oyster farm.

Vertical farm for vegetable was also tried and demonstrated there.

If you are interested in knowing more, they have Facebook page.

Actually, we had met before in PolyU on 22 Sep 2022.
