Six Wisdom Management (六慧管理) – Lecture 1

Minda and I joined Prof. Pang’s (彭泓基教授) course named “From the wisdom of the I Ching to the Six Wisdom Management” (從易經智慧到六慧管理) and the first lecture was held on 29th Aug 2026. Firstly, Prof. Pang introduced the different of the Quality Management between Chinese and Western Cultures.

Many classmates attended both onsite and online. Prof. Pang’s first part of the lecture was extended his presentation in the 11th World Summit for Chinese Quality.

He introduced the definition of management in both Chinese and Western Cultures. He employed the thermodynamic concept: Entropy (degree of randomness) to explain that Quality is inversely proportional to Entropy. Achieving high quality requires management and energy input. And he defined the Management as “Integrate resources to achieve the established goals” (整合資源,達成既定目標.)

Some common definitions of quality in Western were showed.

Finally, he employed Chinese Culture to define Quality like water (上善若水) and striving for perfection (止於至善).

He also briefed the key points of "Six Wisdom Management"《六慧管理》

• The path to wisdom begins with sincerity (智慧之道,誠為終始)

• Know yourself and others, have insight into the world (自知知,洞察世情)

• Concentrate your mind and will, knowing what to choose (凝神養志,知所取捨)

• Assess the situation and decide on a strategy (審時度勢,慮定謀略)

• Learn from the past to know the present, deep thinking the truth (鑒古知今,窮理深思)

• From self-cultivation to peace in the world, harmony and no hindrance (修齊治平,圓融無礙)

Prof. Pang was nominated by Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) to achieve the award entitled “Chinese Quality Culture Promoter” (全球華人品質文化推動者). The award issued by World Alliance for Chinese Quality (WACQ).

Then he discussed what is the "Six Wisdom Management".

Prof. Pang demonstrated his model through Chinese Wisdom Management Study.

And then he concluded “"The Six Wisdom Management" system integrates decision-making, discernment, inner cultivation, and action. Rooted in I Ching philosophy, it addresses modern leadership, change, and crisis management. With AI's rise, mastering constant principles amid change is crucial.”

After that he discussed the foundation of the Six Wisdom Management that is “Honest” ().

Prof. Pang quoted some Classical Chinese works, such as the Analects (論語) and the Tao Te Ching (道德經), to discuss the Concept of Honest.

He then briefed the wisdom of “Till Philosophy” (止學).

And then discussed the thinking between wisdom and conduct.

The last part was “Astronomy and Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗數)”. Prof. Pang mentioned “Seeking truth from facts” (實事求是) is important. In I Ching, there were many tools for prediction theories. He said Eight Characters for Destiny (八字命理) is macroscopic view and Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗數) is microscopic view of prediction model.

Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗數) is developed from Chinese Astronomy.

After that he introduced Chinese 28 Constellations Chart.
