Advanced Class for I Ching (易經高班) – Lecture 1

Minda and I joined Prof. Peng’s (彭泓基教授) advanced class for I Ching (易經高班) and Lecture 1 was held on 7^th Oct 2023. The course has six lectures and performed biweekly. I summarized the key concepts for sharing below.

In the beginning, Prof. Peng reviewed the Change Gua (變卦) and I Ching fundamental concepts.

We all studied in his resident’s club onsite and also arranged online lecture simultaneously. 

Eight classics hexagrams (八經卦) were reviewed that are the fundamental Gua to generate many different hexagrams under different change methods.

After that he mentioned 64 hexagrams (六十四卦) application in management.

And then Prof. Peng briefed 12 message hexagrams (12辟掛 or 12消息掛) that stated the change of season through the change of yin and yang (陰陽). Finally, he introduced the application of Chinese wisdom and I Ching into management science.

After break, the second part was the rule of I Ching. The key concept is wave philosophy. 

Then he quoted Mr. Qian Mu (錢穆) ideas on society and history development as well as patriotic feelings.

Lastly, Prof. Peng introduced the I Ching’s way on crisis awareness and solutions.

The effective tools were introduced such as Revolution and Innovation.

At the end, we went to the restaurant to have lunch together.
