Visit to CMA Testing

 Dr. Vincent Fung (Executive Director, Kin Yat Holding Ltd) and I visited laboratories in CMA Testing and discussed the cooperation for CMA Technology Commercialization Platform on 3^rd Mar 2021.  We took a group photo in front of CMA Testing entry.

After meeting, we visited different laboratories including DNA testing, IAQ and GC room, etc.   The most updated one is Mobile RT-PCR Testing Lab.

We took a photo in front of the mobile lab which built in the cargo container for truck.

Lastly, we left and tool a photo outside CMA Testing office which is summary of milestones since 1979.

In 2005, I had lined up HKSTP and CMATCL to sign the MOU through some testing projects in Product Analysis Laboratory of HKSTP.

CMA Testing Rebranding Grand Launching cum 40th Anniversary (Online)

CMA Testing Rebranding Grand Launching cum 40th Anniversary was held on 7^th Aug 2020.  Since the 3^rd wave of Covid-19 outbreak in Hong Kong, it was held through online platform.  In the beginning, Dr. Ng Wang Pun, Dennis (President of the Chinese Manufacturer’s Association of Hong Kong) give welcome speech.  He said Certification and Testing is one of CMA key developments in the supply chain.  Then he introduced the history of CMA Testing since 1979.  Recently, CMA Testing support society to testing environment hygiene during Covid-19 outbreak period.

Mr. Alfred Sit Wing-Hong, JP (Secretary for Innovation and Technology, HKSAR) was the honor guest speaker.  He said CMA Testing contributed to local industries and trade.  “CMA Testing had got the HOKLAS accreditation since 1987 and its testing competence was recognized.  Moreover, CMA Testing and different oversea bodies formed alliance so as to enhance their service to local industries.” said by Mr. Sit.  The insight point was that CMA Testing was first laboratory certified ISO 37001 - anti-bribery management system in last year.  Lastly, he appreciated CMA Testing supported industry and HKCTC.

Then Dr. Wingco Lo, JP (Vice President of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) and Chairman of CMA Testing and Certification Laboratories) introduced the CMA Testing Rebranding.  He said CMA Testing was continuously innovation through rebranding and service enhancement.  Dr. Lo also explained the new logo design meaning.

After that Mr. Dominic Lam (COO, CMA Testing) presented the CMA Testing Future Development.  Firstly, he introduced their objectives included organizing research project for Hong Kong industries risk and opportunity, providing innovative service and enhancing technology education.

Technology Commercialization was one of key focus and its implementation concept was briefed.  The progress of technology commercialization included four steps and they were Screening, Optimization, Certification and Commercialization.  

And then Mr. Dominic Lam mentioned the platform of technology commercialization that involved industry competence establishment, research and innovative technology, and supporting technology cooperation partners.  

SUNDIAL is one of cooperation with CMA Testing under this platform.  It is winner of startup price (upto 1 M) from HKUST.  Finally, many different cases briefed such as green finance. 

At the end, CMA Testing Vision was demonstrated through Technology Commercialization Platform.

CMATCL & HKSTP Meeting for reindustrialization

Per my first boss and friend Mr. Dominic Lam request, I arranged a meeting between CMA Testing and Certification Laboratory and HKSTP – Advanced Manufacturing for reindustrialization opportunity on 27th Mar 2019.

Firstly, Dr. HL Yiu (Head of Advanced Manufacturing, HKSTP) introduced reindustrialization policy in HKSTP and recently development & support such as Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC) and Data Technology Hub, as well as, IE 2.0 policy.

Then CMATCL team explained their ideas for service CMA’s corporate members (~4000) transformation need. We were happy for discussing synergy opportunity.  I represented HKSQ to discuss about Reindustrialisation and Technology Training Programme (RTTP) that could help tenants and CMA’s members.
