HKCTC Testing and Certification Manpower Development Award Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony cum Luncheon 2023-24

The Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC) had launched the first “Testing and Certification Manpower Development Award Scheme” in 2021 and this year launched the 2^nd award scheme after Covid. HKSQ is one of supporting organizations and I am one of member in HKCTC Panel on Manpower Development. Both Dr. Jane and I were invited to join this ceremony. 

We took a photo when arrived the venue in HKCEC.

I met Prof. KWAN Hoi Shan (CUHK) again.

I also met Ms. Bess Choi (HKQAA) who is member of Industry Training Advisory Committee for Testing, Inspection & Certification Industry (TIC-ITAC) under HKQF and Ms. Cybil Law (SGS) (right). We also took a photo in front of the scheme banner.

Then I took photo with Ms. Bess Choi, Dr. Chan Shun Wan (Thei, VTC) Dr. Steven Yang (SCL) and Ms. Brenda Lam (SCL).

I met the first chairman of HKCTC Prof. Ching Pak-chung and Prof. SUN Dong (Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry).

Then Prof. Sun Dong is very interested in my selfie technique and I shared with him. We were in same department (MEEM) in CityU long time ago.

And then I took a photo with Mr. Felix Chan (Chair, Panel of Manpower Development, HKCTC) and Ms. Lillian Cheong (Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry).

I met Mr. Dominic Lam and Prof. Nora F. Y. TAM. We took photo with Mr. Wilson WL Shum together.

My table is number 7 and Mr. Trevor Lee (SGS) set along with me.

Mr. Matthew Yien (HKQF), Dr. Fong Ho-ching, Edmund (Assistant Director, Chinese Medicine, DH) and I were also in same table.

I also met Mr Nick Leung. We had worked together for Thin-film solar panel project in Science Park.

In the beginning of the ceremony, Prof. Wong Wing Tak (Chairman, HKCTC) gave opening speech.

And then Prof. SUN Dong (Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry) gave guest speech for Testing and Certification Industry. 

After that the opening ceremony of the award scheme for TIC was started.

Firstly, HKCTC guests and supporting organization took a group photo. (Including HKSQ)

Then members of HKCTC and Panel of Manpower Development were took a group photo.

After that guest gave a toast to all participants and lunch started.

Mr. Li Chunjiang (李春江) (State Administration for Market Regulation 国家市场监督管理总局) gave congratulations via recording.

During awarding presentation, Mr. Robert Lui was one of award presenter and the award.

Then all awardees took a group photo. This award is to encourage T&C practitioners for continuous learning and professional development, and/or contributed to service quality improvement.

Chow Sang Sang Precious Metal Laboratory awarded T&C Manpower Development Corporate Award. Since I am a member of Hong Kong Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) Steering Committee under The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society (CGSE). I will encourage HKPMAC to participate in next time.

Then Prof. Albert Yu (Former Chairman, HKCTC) was the award presenter.

Ms. May Ng (Lab Manager, ALS) represented ALS to receive the corporate award.

We were colleagues in CMA Testing long time ago.

Prof. WW Wong is serving in ABCT Dept., PolyU as Professor of Practice (Quality Assurance, Testing and Certification). Then I heard from him that Mr. SS Chan had retired in ASHK this year.

HKCTC Networking Trip to Shenzhen

 HKCTC and HKAS arranged experience sharing meeting with the Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation (深圳市市場監督管理局, SAMR) and visit the China Hi-tech Fair (中國國際高新技術成果交易會) on 17^th Nov 2023. Chairman of HKCTC and members of the panel on manpower development were participate this trip. We started the trip from Kowloon Tong and had taken a photo in the shuttle for memory.

We arrived the Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation and shared our experience.

Firstly, Ms. Guo Lijun introduced the role and service of the Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation.

Basic governance structure was introduced.

I observed one of their key duties in testing and inspection area involved HKQAA. 

Their coming key tasks are including metrology center development, planning for testing and certification development, enhancement of testing for electrochemical energy storage, and GBA carbon footprint certification development.

After our chairman Prof. Wong and Mr. Lau introduced the role and duties of HKCTC and ITC, we had a tea before lunch. Mr. Li Jun (Left 1) had tea with us.

After lunch, HKCTC presented souvenir to SAMR.

Afternoon, we attended the China Hi-tech Fair (中國國際高新技術成果交易會).

Then Felix and I walked around the fair and took photo in front of SMQ.

In AI area, I took a photo with robotic dog.

Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation zone for technology and innovation (深港科技创新合作区) was there.

After that we attended "Latest Developments in Hong Kong's Testing and Certification Industry" Seminar. The first speaker was Mr. Samson CC Leung (Sr. Manager, Electrical & Network Assurance). Mr. Samson Leung briefed their carbon footprint solution through supply chain to identify the carbon emission in each step. 

Finally, he introduced their ESG way and services.

The second speaker was Mr. King Au Yeung (Assist. Manager, Electrical, TUV Rheinland) and his topic named “Reduce Cybersecurity Risks: Understand IoT Product Security Standards (減低網絡安全風險: 認識物聯網產品安全標準)”.

Mr. Au Yeung briefed different requirement in EU for IoT including GDPR, IEC and EN standards.
