On 23rd Sep 2026 afternoon, I lead my
students Ms. Iris Lau, Mr. Marco Wong and Ms. Fiona Tam to visit the Hong Kong
Precious Metals Assay Centre (HKPMAC) under Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX). It
is the first capstone project named “LKH1: Development of Laboratory
Information System (LIMS) for operation performance enhancement” since 2025. The
project aims to design and implement online ERP system to replace the existing
excel based system for laboratory operation. We arrived in the Hong Kong Gold
Exchange and took a photo.
And then Dr. Kathy Fu (Lab Manager, HKPMAC) led us to
visit the laboratory.
She explained the daily operation of laboratory and we
need to register before access.
Different instruments are introduced such as X-Ray
Fluorescence Spectroscopy.
After that Dr. Kathy Fu introduced their data and customer
recording excel-based systems and problems to students. It is an important
kick-off meeting for this capstone project.
Finally, we took a group photo with Mr. Brian Fung
(CEO, HKGX). Many thanks Brian and Kathy supporting to PolyU COMP Student
Capstone Project.
