IAQ General Meeting in Oslo, Norway 2025

 The IAQ General Meeting was held on 10^th Jun 2025 in Oslo, Norway. I joined online meeting this time. Before the meeting, many IAQ and ANQ old friends joined onsite and online.

In the beginning, Acn. Lars Sörqvist (President, IAQ) gave welcoming speech to all participants both onsite and online.

Then he briefed today’s agenda and reported some information of coming IAQ activities such as IAQ Doctoral Academy.

After that Lars introduced “Quality in Politics”.

He pointed out how important of leadership in the country.

And he discussed how should quality in the Swedish public sector to be improved. He quoted Prof. Jorgen Nordenstrom that negative correlation between resources and results in Swedish Health Care.

Finally, he quoted the actual experiences from China that exponential improvement. 

Acn. Pedro Manuel Saraiva presented his topic named “Quality & Politics: potentials & impacts drawing from personal experiences”. 

His topic included IAQ membership, Quality 5.0, multiscale possibilities, etc.

Pedro stated Quality 5.0 would more focus on humanity. In multiscale possibilities, he separated three levels of quality named MicroQuality, MesoQuality and MacroQuality.

Lastly, he briefed the short-term plan to medium-term plan and then foresight to 2050.

Afterward, Pedro discussed with other academicians.

Ms. Lin Wang (CAQ) was another speaker and her topic entitled “The Development and Trends of Quality Innovation in China”. It separated into three parts including current situation of QI, results of QI and Future Trends of QI.

Firstly, Ms. Lin Wang briefed different development stages of Quality Innovation (QI) in China from 1980s to now and to predict the future.

And then she mentioned CAQ key role as promoter on QI worked with company and government.

After that she introduced a practice path of QI in Chinese companies following five steps.

At the end, she stated new trend of QI such as digital-driven.

Ms. Lin Wang discussed with us during Q&A session.

The last part of morning session was presented by Mr. Dekang Gao and Mr. Ji Deng with long topic named “From belief and strategic breakthroughs, continuously enhance governance efficiency – Understanding and practice of corporate political quality.”

Firstly, Mr. Dekang Gao gave opening speech and then Ms. Shiqi Zhang continuous for details. The last one is Mr. Ji Deng.

Ms. Shiqi Zhang briefed BOSIDENG mission and scientific development strategies. 

In their scientific development strategies, they focused on Brand, Product, Channel and Talent.

Lastly, Mr. Ji Deng mentioned how they became industry leadership for innovative down jacket. And he agreed that the essence of political quality is “Good Government”.

Meeting Prof. Shi (IAQ Academician) in PolyU

It is great to meet Prof. Jianjun Shi (IAQ Academician) in PolyU on 15^th May 2025. He is my one of key nominators for achieving IAQ associate academician in 2016. The last time we meet in Hong Kong Science Park and I let my supervisor Dr. KS Chin and Prof. Shi to visit our laboratories.

Nearly ten years ago, there wasn't much change except that our hair turned gray.

Dr. Roland K. Jahnke (IAQ Academician) visit PolyU 2025

 Dr. Roland K. Jahnke (Academician of International Academy for Quality (IAQ)) visited Hong Kong for conference from 6 to 8^th Feb 2025 and visited Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on 5^th Feb 2025. We took a photo in front of the PolyU logo and flags.

Then we visited University Library.

There are discussion areas and quiet areas in the library. We took photos in the discussion area.

Afterwards we went to U Garden for tea and Roland saw a cleaning robot on the way.

We had tea in the new restaurant.

During the event, the PolyU Jockey Club Innovation Tower hosted a performance combining art and technology. We took a photo in front of the Tower.

Roland enjoyed different performances in the tower.

Then I showed him around our lecture hall.

Finally, I led Roland to visit our Industrial Centre. We saw students in the AI ​​lab, and there was a robotic arm with a camera watching us!

I then invited him to my office and passed by Advanced Therapeutic Products Labs, which had a project with my wife's company.

My colleague Dr. Kevin Yuen was in the office and we took a photo to commemorate the occasion.

Lastly, we took the MTR together to leave the PolyU.

IAQ General Meeting in JUSE and Dinner 2024

The IAQ General Meeting was held on 20^th Sep 2024 in JUSE, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan. After completed ANQ technical visit, we went to JUSE office for attending IAQ General Meeting. Minda and I took a photo in front of the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) for memory. 

When I arrived, it is the last part of keynote speech. In the morning, Mr. Shinichi Sasaki was the first keynote and his topic entitled “JKK Initiatives at Toyota corresponding to changing Social & Customer Needs”. Afternoon, Dr. Nicole Radziwill was the second keynote and her topic named “Quality-Driven AI: Pioneering a New Age of Digital Excellence”. 

I met many friends and took a photo during break.

Long time no see Prof. Hiroshi OSADA (CEO, Research Institute for Quality Innovation)

The third keynote was Prof. Hiroe Tsubaki and his presentation topic was “Quality Management of AI & AI for Quality Management”. He discussed “Actionable Knowledge from Data” that data are for prediction and action.

Finally, Prof. Hiroe Tsubaki employed PDCA Daily Management Cycle together with QC Story for Kaizen that named “Deming-Ishikawa’s Dual Management Cycles” for problem solving. He then mentioned necessary quality management of data production process and improving through ISO 20252:2019 (Market, opinion and social research, including insights and data analytics — Vocabulary and service requirements).

Many academicians attended the meeting and discussed. 

Acn. Lars Sörqvist (President, IAQ) joined panel discussion online.

And then Prof. Yukihiro Ando employed ChatGPT (GenAI) to define good AI required good data and then discussed the result with keynotes.

Prof. Kano gave his comments and discussed with other participants.

Finally, JUSE introduced the coming ICQ 2025 would be held on 1-4 Sep 2025 in Bellesalle Shinjuku Grand.

Lastly, Mr. Shinichi Sasaki (Chair of IAQ, President of JUSE) gave closing meeting remarks.

After that we went to the restaurant named “Neboke” which provided traditional Japanese food.

Roland shot a short video from the restaurant window to the outside, which is the 49th floor!
