The Annual Working Meeting of World Alliance of Chinese Quality 2024 (全球華人品質聯盟年度工作會議)

The annual working meeting of World Alliance of Chinese Quality (全球華人品質聯盟) was held on 29^th Mar 2024. The meeting was held online with representatives from Mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.  Minda and I represented HKSQ to attend this online meeting in CityU. 

All WACQ representatives were preparing the meeting.

In the beginning, Ms. Wang Lin (王琳) briefed the working meeting agenda.

Dr. Duan Yonggang (Chairman, WACQ; Vice-Chairman, CAQ) (段永剛博士 - 全球華人品質聯盟理事長、中國質量協會副會長兼秘書長) gave opening speech.  Because of working arrangement, he was not able to join WACQ last year. He appreciated all members efforts and SQI successful summit in 2023. Then he briefed the coming World Summit for Chinese Quality (WSCQ) would be held by CAQ in Chengdu, Sichuan (四川成都).

After that each society representative reported their activities in the last year. The first is CSQ and they focused on ESG.

HKSQ is second to report our activities including social event, seminar and technical visit in last year.

I also updated that the coming ISO 9001 revision would add ESG and SDGs into the organization context and all other coming ISO management system standard.

MQMA is the third organization and Prof. Lin Chang (林暢) reported their activities in Macau.

Mr. Cheng (THQA) shared last year activities related to medical and healthcare quality summit.

Mr. Wong (THQA) briefed different seminars they organized.

Finally, Mr. Johnson Tan (Chairman, SQI) shared SQI last year activities included ANQ Congress 2023 and the 8^th World Summit for Chinese Quality (WSCQ).

During ANQ Congress 2023, Prof. TN Goh (吳桐毅) was the winner of IKA Gold Medal Award.

Then Mr. Jianyu Tu reported the 8^th WSCQ in last year.

He firstly reviewed each summit’s theme and we had 21 papers in the 8^th WSCQ.

And then representative of CAQ introduced the Quality Chinese Medicine related works to us.

The material of Chinese Medicine import and export data was mentioned. HK is the top for export.

China issued many standards for Chinese Medicine so as to ensure the quality and control.

Lastly, CAQ proposed the 9^th World Summit for Chinese Quality (WSCQ) to be held on 29 to 31 Aug 2024 in Chengdu, Sichuan (四川成都). The theme named “Sustainable Quality Management based on Chinese Culture (以中華文化為底蘊的可持續質量管理之道)”.

The draft summit agenda was briefed.

The abstract and paper submission dates were demonstrated.

We are looking forward to meet all in the 9^th WSCQ in Chengdu, Sichuan (四川成都).

ABCT Guest Talk for “Introduction of HKQF & Experience Sharing”

I was honor to be invited by Dr. Joe KH. Lam and Dr. Gary Tang to introduce the HKQF and share my industry experience to the student in BSc (Hon) in Analytical Sciences for Testing and Certification under the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology (ABCT), PolyU on 27^th Mar 2024. In the beginning, we took a photo for memory.

Before the talk, I surveyed students’ expected career.

Then I started my talk to introduce Qualifications Framework in Hong Kong.

The key element is the QF level from level 1 to level 7 which connected vocational & continuing education with academic level.

And then the TIC industry career pathway was mentioned.

After that I shared my career with the title “Connecting the Dots”.

My sharing separated into four dimensions including academic, business, community and government.

Finally, I demonstrated my dots which all connected to my study in universities.

Lastly, I shared what I had been done in Science Park for different accreditations and methods development.

For example, SEM for measuring metallic coating thickness.

As well as SAM for moisture/ reflow sensitivity test.

At the end, I survey students again and most students would like to be Dr. Gary Tang!

Advanced Class II for I Ching (易經高班II)–Lecture 3

Minda and I joined Prof. Peng’s (彭泓基教授) advanced class II for I Ching (易經高班) and Lecture 3 was held on 23^rd Mar 2024. Today’s topic was “I Ching and Wisdom of Man Being” (易經與做人的智慧). 

Firstly, Prof. Peng compared the application of Eastern and Western management. He said that Western management focused on handling matters but Eastern management focused on people themselves. 

Western management mainly handled the people (e.g. Human Resource) and projects. I Ching taught us how to face others and yourself. 

Then Prof. Peng briefed the characteristics of Chinese Culture including Harmony Society, Human Relations, Closeness and Distance, Loyalty and Competence. 

The most important is Social Norms (禮) that included in Confucianism.

The diagram showed the relationship among Survive, Living and Life (生存、生活、生命). 

After that He then explains the pursuit of wisdom and the path is from surface to deep and then understood the nature.

Prof. Peng also introduced how to be excellence management talent under Chinese culture.

The Confucian ethical and moral system centered on "Benevolence / Humanity (仁)" that is the essence. It is one part of Prof. Peng’s thesis that combined I Ching and Confucianism.

Finally, Prof. Peng discussed the litigation hexagram (訟卦).

The hexagram of litigation could be changed in mutual hexagram (互卦) that indicated different trend of change.

Based on the description of litigation hexagram (訟卦), some suggestions were proposed to solve the conflict. 

After the class, classmates had lunch with Prof. Peng together.

Then Minda come with So Easy to Huawei shop for managing her apps problem.

In that night, Minda and I had dinner in PolyU restaurant.
