Music Seminar on “How to train children to have feelings for their country and family” (如何培訓孩子的家國情懷音樂講座)

Minda and I attended Prof. Peng’s (彭泓基教授) music seminar named “How to train children to have feelings for their country and family (如何培訓孩子的家國情懷音樂講座)” on 14^th Sep 2023. 

Then all guests took a group photo with Vice Chairmen of Hong Kong Taoist Association (香港道教聯合會副主席黃成益) when presented appreciation certificates.

In the beginning, Prof. Peng raised some philosophy questions such as who I am, where I come from, why I am here, and what is meaning of life, etc.

He then briefed basic theories from Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism (儒釋道). Confucianism eight successful ways were quoted for our reference.

Prof. Peng mentioned human’s desire that coming love and established family.

After that he employed I Ching to analyze the development rule of love.

Finally, Prof. Peng shared his secretary to teach next generation that is “Lead by Example and Parent to be Good Model”. He studied his PhD when he was 60 years old!

Lastly, he quoted Mr. Qian Mu talking about patriotism (錢穆先生論愛國情懷). Firstly, we need to understand your country and its history, then generated feeling and love.

Prof. Peng concluded to adapt unique spirit of our country as well as absorbed different ideas from outside, integrated all good things together for innovation.

At the end, the music performance started as follows:

4.      當你老了

5.      忘盡心中情

6.      鐵血丹心

7.      夢駝鈴

8.      東方之珠

9.      獅子山下

Lastly, we all song the “Under the Lion Rock” (獅子山下). Prof. Peng said Hong Kong situation had changed and no longer spirit of Lion Rock but it is normal based on I Ching theory.
