The 8th World Summit of Chinese Quality–Day 1 (Part B)

The 8th World Summit of Chinese Quality (全球華人品質峰會) was organized by Singapore Quality Institute (SQI) (新加坡质量学院) and pre-World Alliance for Chinese Quality (pre-WACQ - 全球华人品质联盟（筹）) on 21^st Sep 2023. The theme was “People-oriented, Advancing with the Times, Artificial Intelligence and Quality Assurance”「以人为本，与时俱进，人工智能与品质保证」. Minda and I come back after tea break for closing session of the summit.

Summit keynote speech session II:

I was the fourth keynote speaker and my topic was “Feasibility Study Report on Sustainable Business Development of Quality Start-ups supported by Hong Kong Society for Quality” (香港品質學會支持優質初創企業的可持續業務發展研究報告). Firstly, I briefed the project backgrounds and we awarded government funding upto HK$1M.

Then I briefed three project purposes including to assist Hong Kong Startup development, to enhance their resource and operation management capability, as well as, strengthen Hong Kong Startups competitive edge in Asia and the world.

And then I mentioned the theory of Quality Startup Management System (QStarMS) model which I proposed in 2017 that combined Business Model Canvas, ISO 9001, HKSTP milestone assessment and HKQAA startup registration scheme requirement. 

After that I shared the results that identified six key factors including i) ISO Understanding Factor, ii) MS Enhancement Factor, iii) Customer Focus Factor, iv) Business Growth Factor, v) Challenge Factor, and vi) Compressive Ability Factor.

Finally, the key elements under Challenge Factor were discussed that was consolidated by 50 in-depth interviews with startups. They are Level of sales achieved, Brand reputation, Hiring additional staff and Seeking new market/customers. 

Lastly, I briefed the content of the guideline for startup including Quality Management (PESTEL Analysis, Porter Five Forces Analysis, SWOT Analysis), Risk Management, Financial Management and Information Security Management.

At the end, the sharing seminars and media announcement were shared.

The last keynote speaker was Dr. HUANG Wei-Chun (黃偉春) (台灣醫療品質協會監事/國際合作委員會主委) and his presentation title was “The application of Sun Tzu's Art of War Strategies to Improve Medical Quality” (醫療品質提升之孫子兵法策略運用). Dr. Huang briefed Sun Tzu’s Art of War strategies in the beginning.

Then Dr. Huang showed the comparison between Sun Tzu's Art of War and Medical Quality.

And then he mentioned the background of Sepsis and considered this topic in three dimensions and they were patient (early dialogistic and treatment) , staff (reduce workload) and hospital (reduce bed time and improve quality). 

Finally, Dr. Huang described how their measures matching to Sun Tzu's Art of War one-by-one. The following diagram is the summary. 

Presentation of Certificate session:

After all keynote session, Mr. Johnson Tan Swan San (Chairman, SQI) (陳川昌 - 新加坡質量學院主席) presented appreciation certificates to all speakers and guests. Minda and I both received certificate.

Then Mr. Tu Jianyu (徐建宇) (Exco member, SQI) reported technical paper conclusion.

Total 32 papers and most of them related to quality management and QA. Other hot topics included AI and Big Data.

Ms. Wang Lin (王琳) (Deputy Secretary General, CAQ; Vice Chairman, pre-WACQ) gave closing address and she appreciated all contributors for the summit and those papers revolve around the themes that quality management models, innovation & AI with Chinese characteristics. They reflect the summary of the practical experience of quality management in various organizations in the context of the new era. 

Before the end of summit, Mr. Johnson Tan Swan San (Chairman, SQI) (陳川昌 - 新加坡質量學院主席) handover WACQ Flag to Ms. Wang Lin (王琳) (CAQ) for the 9^th World Summit for Chinese Quality in Beijing, China.

Finally, CAQ showed a video to visit Beijing.

After the summit, we had dinner in the Yan Palace Restaurant. We all enjoyed the dinner and wine, as well as, sing a song together. Some happiness photos collected as follows.

I selected the song named " Pearl of the Orient" (東方之珠) and invited all to sing together.

We all had a happy night and would join the technical visit tomorrow.
