The 4th Summit of pre-World Alliance for Chinese Quality (WACQ) – Day 2 (Technical Visit)

The 4^th Summit of pre-World Alliance for Chinese Quality (WACQ) (全球華人品質峰會) was organized by WACQ and CAQ which held together with “The Commemorative Congress of the 40th Anniversary of China Quality Association and TQM Promotion” (全面質量管理推進暨中國質量協會成立40週年紀念大會) from 27^th to 31^th Aug 2019.  The schedule arranged i) registration on 27^th Aug, ii) Attend the Commemorative Congress of the 40^th anniversary of CAQ and technical visit on 28^th Aug, iii) pre-WACQ Summit on 29^th Aug, iv) Technical visit in Taiyuan and pre-WACQ working meeting on 30^th Aug and v) Chinese culture tour from 31^st Aug to 1^st Sep. The founding members of Pre-World Alliance for Chinese included China Association for Quality (CAQ), Chinese Society for Quality (CSQ), Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) and Singapore Quality Institute (SQI).  This Alliance was established after the 3^rd Chinese Quality Forum (CQF) in Beijing in 2015.  On 30^th Aug, CAQ arranged us to visit Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. (formerly Taiyuan Iron & Steel Corporation) (TISCO), also known as Taigang Group is a Chinese steel maker based in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. So we took a High-speed Railway from Beijing to Taiyuan in the morning.

I site with SQI friends - Mr. Tan Gheng Een (陳敬賢) and Prof. TN Goh (吳桐毅).

The train speed upto 304km/h!

When we arrived, HKSQ and SQAT took a photo in the railway entry.

Then we had lunch in the hotel before the technical visit.

TISCO arranged a bus for us and Ms. Wang Lilin (王麗林) (CAQ) was our leader.

Minda and I took a photo during wear the protection hat.

Prof. TN Goh (吳桐毅) wear out protesters like and made fun with us!

The tall building of TISCO was observed.

The steel making plan was so large and we saw it from the outside.

Firstly, we visited the show room and then went to the production area. It was hot and no photo taken allowed. 

TISCO representative explained TISCO history, products and vision to us.

She also mention the corporate culture.

The plant had long history and traced to Mr. Sun Yat-sen!

Then Prof. Phulporn, Minda and I took a photo outside on the front of Blast Furnace.

Before end of site visit, Dr. Aaron Tong and I represented HKSQ to present our 30^th anniversary book to the representative.

After that we held pre-WACQ working meeting.  Before that we invited TISCO quality representative Mr. Zhang Jianjun (張建軍) introduced TISCO precise quality management practice. 

 Firstly, he briefed the history and quality development in TISCO. 

They introduced ISO 9001 since 2003 and then adopted six sigma, standardization and other quality technologies.  

Mr. Zhang said they learn six sigma from CAQ and it became their core of precise quality management. 

In standardization side, they employed PDCA cycle to manage the whole processes.

Dr. Duan Yonggang (段永剛) (Vice-Chairman, CAQ) presented certificates to the Chief Engineer of TISCO. 

After that we started the pre-WACQ working meeting.  Dr. Duan Yonggang (段永剛) (Vice-Chairman, CAQ) said we needed to enlarge WACQ members in different ways.  Moreover, result should be practiced.

During the meeting, HKSQ prepared moon cake for all members.  Minda helped to distribute it.

At night, TISCO arranged a dinner with us.  The small health vinegar provided for each one.

I think it used dry ice to make this effect.  We appreciated TISCO hospitality and dinner.
