IAQ General Meeting in Philadelphia, USA 2023

The IAQ General Meeting in Philadelphia, USA 2023 was held online (Part A) & onsite (Part A&B) on 11 May 2023. IAQ team arrived and took a group photo onsite. 

In the beginning, Acn. Shinichi Sasaki (Chair, IAQ) gave opening speech. 

Many old friends attended meeting onsite.

There are ~30 members participated online.

Then Acn. Lars Sörqvist (President, IAQ) and Acn. Raul F. Molteni (President elect, IAQ) gave welcome speech.

And then Acn. Shinichi Sasaki presented awards and medals for the following members.

-          Quality Laureate medal – Gregory H. Watson

-          Agnes Zaludova medal – Sr. Mary Jean Ryan

-          Marcos Bertin medal – A. Blanton Godfrey

-          Riccardo Dell’Anna Doctoral Dissertation medal – Andre Carvalho

Some awardees were attended board meeting during the conference.

Then presentation of IAQ pin to new academicians including Nicole Radziwill, Paul Borawski, Ahmad Elshennawy and Joseph DeFeo.

Two new academicians presented online and they are Wan Seon Shin and Dag Krolid.

After that Narayanan Ramanathan presented the examining committee report. 

He reported the academicians and associates from 2021 to 2023 situation. Ram also remarked IAQ Think Tanks as source to attract more participants and most of them fit in as associates. 

Then Paulo Sampaio presented the Secretary/Treasurer report. He said we had very healthy financial and can viable over the past 10 years.

Then Elizabeth Keim (Liz) updated the IAQ By-Laws.

Finally, Raul Molteni reported the Think Tank situation. 6 out of 10 are active TTs and 29% participation of IAQ members. The purposes of TT are increasing participation, impact on society and foster synergy among think tanks. 

Lastly, Catherine Chan presented the lively and susceptible Academy to us. She mentioned the IAQ mission and most important is mutual contributions.

Then she stated mature social system should be lively and susceptible. So that she raised “every one of us is a HOLON within this mature social system with all it needs to function effectively”. She concluded that SUCCESS is impossible without yoU.

During Q&A, Noriaki Kano gave comments on the term “HOLON”. He said HOLON is combined by HOLOS and ON that HOLOS means total/whole and ON means electron/element. It is a good idea for IAQ.
