American Professional Certification Services
(A-PROCS) USA organized its 3rd webinar named “Innovating for Success in
Disruptive Times" on 5th Nov 2020 at 10:30 am to 11:40 am US
Eastern Time (5-6th Nov Hong Kong time from 11:30pm to 12:30am) in
collaboration with MIT-USA and NUST. The Virtual events focused on the people process
system and culture of innovative organizations to support individual and group
abilities to innovate by developing ideas and taking them into action. 
Mr. Imran Rana (Director, A-PROCS, USA) was webinar
moderator and he introduced the background of A-PROCS, USA and each speaker before
the webinar.
The first speaker was Mr. Gary Cokins (CPIM,
Analytics-Based Performance Management LLC) and his topic entitled “The Impact
of the Digital Revolution on Innovation at Operational / Process Professions”. Firstly,
he discussed Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) / Corporate Performance
Management (CPM) because of different failure reasons.
Then Mr. Gary Cokins described digital revolution
that caused digitization disrupting traditional industries through AI / ML,
etc. So he said organizations should be
either “disrupt” or “be disrupted”. He
proposed organizations that embraced a “digital disruptor” way of thinking
would gain a competitive edge.
After that he reviewed the ROI from information. The x-axis is different level of data value
from data to decisions. The higher level
of data value is, the higher power of information as well as ROI obtain.
Finally, Mr. Gary Cokins proposed EPM/CPM was
circulatory and simultaneous that the result was shareholder wealth
creation.
The second speaker was Ms. Maureen Metcalf (MBA,
Innovative Leadership Institute) and her presentation topic named “Mindset of
Innovative Leaders”. Before the talk,
she invited us to poll for understanding our company situation. Then she said “Disruption Continues at Increasing
Rates – Your Leadership Matters!”
And then she said that Leadership Mindsets and
behaviors are paradoxical.
Therefore, we need the following mindsets:
1. 360 Degree Thinker.
2. Intellectually Versatile
3. Professionally Humble
4. Unwavering Commitment to Right Action
5. Be highly Authentic and Reflective
6. Able to Inspire Followership
7. Innately Collaborative
Finally, She quoted PwC that “Harthill Consulting’s
data shows that less than 10% of leaders have the appropriate capabilities that
of ‘Strategists’ to successfully lead through complexity.” We are adding 1% per decade to this
number. Then she showed the leader picture
and asked us to score ourselves on these seven competencies.
The last speaker was Dr. H. Jame Harrington (CEO,
Harrington Management Systems) and his topic was “Project Innovation Cycle
(PIC)”. Unfortunately, Dr. Harrington computer had problem without sound. It
was pity that the session was cancelled.
