Chinese Traditional Wisdom Management Course (中華智慧管理學) - Lecture 3

Minda and I joined Prof. Pang’s (彭泓基教授) course named “Chinese Traditional Wisdom Management” (中華智慧管理學) and the third lecture named “I Ching and Sun Tzu's Art of War” (《易经》与 《孙子兵法》) was held on 9^th May 2026. 

We took a photo with Prof. Pang and Master Andy Law.

Then Tai Chi class members took a photo with Master Andy Law.

I also took a photo with our Pinkle Ball teacher Mr. Partick Lui.

In the beginning, Prof. Pang explained “Tao” (道) which is to understand the nature. Life is from learning the Tao (學道) to cultivating the Tao (修道) to understanding the Tao (悟道) and finally attaining the Tao (得道). The I Ching is the source of the Tao. Many classmates attended onsite.

Also included online classmates!

Prof. Pang described the core idea between I Chine and Sun Tzu’s Art of War.  It included 1) Yin-Yang dialectics, 2) the concept of change, 3) the three powers of Heaven, Earth, and Man, and 4) the idea of cautious warfare.

Then he briefed the content of the hexagram Shi (師) and The hexagram Bi (比) as well as their modern application. Two Guos (卦) indicate from war to peace.

And then Prof. Pang explained the strategy named Winning Mindset (全勝思維). I Ching is like underlying operating system and Sun Tzu's Art of War is like application program.

The hexagram Shi (師) and its Yao (爻) had different meanings at different stages.

The hexagram Bi (比) and its Yao (爻) are also discussed.

After that Prof. Pang using “Coin Divination” (金錢卦) predicted the result of “From Iran's Perspective: The Advantages and Disadvantages of the US-Iran Conflict and Solutions to the Dilemma”.

Prof. Pang got the hexagram Ben (賁) and explained each Yao (爻).

Since 3, 4 & 6 Yao are Moving Yao (動爻), the final result should be the hexagram Zhen (震).

The hexagram Ben (賁)’s mutual hexagram (互卦) is the hexagram Xie (解) which is the process.

And then Kinsen used “Coin Divination” (金錢卦) to predict the leader meeting between US and China. I recorded the result and we got the hexagram Jiji (既濟卦) with two Moving Yao (1st and 5^th Yao).

Finally, Prof. Pang briefed the tactical thinking of surprise and conventional tactics (奇正戰術思維).

Some war cases were quoted.

Lastly, he explained the Winning Mindset (全勝思維) application in the modern competition.

The core concepts of Winning Mindset including Indirect Confrontation (非直接對抗,), minimal cost (最小代價), Overall Success (整體圓滿) and Positive Strategies (積極策略). Master Andy Law tells us that Winning Mindset is the same as the core concepts in Tai Chi (太極)!

After the lecture, we had lunch with Prof. Pang together.
