The 9th World Summit of Chinese Quality–Day 1 (Part A)

The launching ceremony of the 2024 National Quality Association System "Quality Month" Activity and the 9th World Summit of Chinese Quality (2024年全国质协系统“质量月”活动启动仪式和第九届华人品质论坛) was organized by China Association for Quality (CAQ) (中国质量协会) and pre-World Alliance for Chinese Quality (pre-WACQ - 全球华人品质联盟（筹）) on 29^th to 30^th Aug 2024. The theme was “Sustainable Quality Management based on Chinese Culture”「 以中华文化为底蕴的可持续质量管理之道」. The summit was held in Chengdu. Dr. Jane Wong (Chairman, HKSQ), Ms. Angela Wong (Vice-chairman, HKSQ), Ms. Minda Chiang and I represented HKSQ to attend the summit. Minda and I took a photo when we registered. 

We met Ms. Elizabeth Keim (Liz) (Past President of IAQ; Past Chair of ASQ) during breakfast.

The 2024 National Quality Association System "Quality Month" activity started. Ms. Wang Lin (王琳) (Deputy Secretary General, CAQ) briefed the opening.

Then Mr. Chen (陳文華) gave opening remark.

And then Mr. Jia fuxing (賈福興) (Chairman, CAQ) gave opening speech. He mentioned the new quality productive force and advanced productivity, as well as, high quality development. 

The hall is spacious, and many quality professionals participated in this "Quality Month" event.

All WACQ leaders started the launching ceremony of the 2024 National Quality Association System "Quality Month" activity.

After that all participants voluntary oath to be honorable quality professional.

Then Ms. Wang Lin (王琳) (Deputy Secretary General, CAQ) announced the quality awards (individual).

Later, Dr. Duan Yonggang (段永剛) (Vice-Chairman, CAQ) presented awards to outstanding benchmarking enterprises. 

After the awards presentation, the first keynote speaker was Mr. Zeng Congqin (曾從欽) (Chairman, Wuliangye group 五糧液) and his topic named “Build the cornerstone of quality together and create a new chapter of harmony and beauty.” (共鑄質量基石, 共譜和美新篇)

Firstly, Mr. Zeng briefed his quality interpretation from the views of word to physical to philosophy to social and to practical. Then he briefed the whole techniques of the Wuliangye.

Finally, he concluded the three forces to support the high quality such as supporting force, hard power and development power! He said that harmony and beauty come from equal emphasis on soft power and hard power, localization and globalization, high quality and the improvement of all factors.

The second keynote speaker was Ms. Elizabeth M. Keim (CEO, Integrated Quality Resources, LLC) and her topic entitled “The Future of the Quality Professional” (質量專業人員的未來). She said the role of the quality professional is evolving rapidly. Quality professionals must adapt to new challenges and opportunities which driven by technological advancements. 

Then she compared the current focused on data, analytics, connectivity, collaboration and scalability that the developing to big data, machine learning, AR/VR, Cloud computing, IoT, AI and Advanced Innovation, respectively. The future would be focused more on global, technological, real-time issues and predictive analytics.

Finally, Ms. Liz Keim identified six future needs and skills to be succeed in future and they were Customer Focus, Sustainability & Ethics, Technology, Globalization, Continuous Improvement & Innovation, and Problem Solving. Lastly, she concluded that developing diverse skill sets for success in a dynamic environment by future quality professional.

After the morning session, representatives of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan took a photo with Ms. Liz Keim for memory.

During the lunch, I met our old friend Mr. Li Wencheng (李文成) (previous Director, Strategy & Development Department, International Excellence Quality Research Center, CAQ). He told me that he had already retired. 

After lunch, Minda and I joined the 9th World Summit of Chinese Quality (第九届华人品质论坛).
