CityU Eminence Society (CES) Seminar – How Hong Kong Can Contribute to the Nation's Implementation of Global Governance Initiatives

CityU Eminence Society (CES) invited Mr. Leung Chun-ying (Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, GBS, JP) (全國政協副主席梁振英先生，大紫荊勳賢，GBS，JP) to give us a seminar entitled “How Hong Kong Can Contribute to the Nation's Implementation of Global Governance Initiatives” (城賢匯 專題講座「香港如何助力國家實踐全球治理倡議」) on 13^th Mar 2026 in CityU Alumni Lounge. I was very lucky having opportunity to take a photo with Mr. CY Leung and Dr. Allen Shi (Chairman, CES) at the end of the seminar. This booklet is Mr. CY Leung's campaign brochure, which I received 14 years ago. It has his signature on it. 

Before the seminar, my colleague Dr. Jeff Tang drove me to go to CityU Alumni Lounge which inside the student dormitory.

Jeff attended another alumni dinner here and showed me around his dorm room when studied in CityU.

I arrived the venue.

Firstly, I met Mr Simon Hui (Former Chairman, CityUES) and Mr. Andrew Fan (Distinguished Alumni).

Then we took photo with CES members including Ms. Pheony Tsang, Dr. Raymond Leung, Mr. Alex Zhong, Mr. Robert Lui, Dr. Steve Chuang, and Mr. Andrew Fan, etc.

I also met my BCH cohort Mr. YIP Wai Yuen

Before seminar start, Mr. Andrew Fan introduced today’s MC and secretary of CES.

Then, Mr. Simon Hui sponsored a hair dryer for each participant.

Our guest speaker Mr. CY Leung arrived.

Beginning the seminar, Dr. Allen Shi (Chairman, CES) gave opening speech.

Mr. CY Leung delivered a keynote speech entitled “How Hong Kong Can Contribute to the Nation's Implementation of Global Governance Initiatives”.

He said “On September 1, 2025, President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus" summit. He proposed the Global Governance Initiative, working alongside all nations to advance the establishment of a more just and reasonable global governance system, and join hands in building a community with a shared future for mankind.” 

Mr. CY Leung added the translation of “人類命運共同體” should be “Shared Future”

He also quoted President Xi’s four expectations for Hong Kong:

1. To be more proactive in supporting the country’s comprehensive opening up.
2. To be more proactive in integrating into the overall development of the country.
3. To be more proactive in participating in the practice of national governance.

To be more proactive in promoting international cultural exchanges.

After that he introduced the work of the GX Foundation and how the foundation connects people in developing countries with Hong Kong through the Belt and Road Initiative.

Finally, he mentioned that GX is a form of people-to-people diplomacy, embodying our country's diplomatic principles of "closeness, sincerity, benefit, and inclusiveness." 「親、誠、惠、容」

Q&A questions, Dr. Steve Chuang, and Mr. Andrew Fan asked different questions respectively. 

After the seminar, I met EngD cohort Dr. Andy Wong.

I missed to take photo with our EngD Society Advisory Dr. Augustine Chow.

Finally, I took a photo with Ms. Pheony Tsang (Deputy Director, ARO, CityU).

At the end, Dr. Jeff Tsang and his roommate Mr. Ho Kai-pong, Gabriel (Registered Social Worker, Christian Family Service Centre) came here, and we took another photo.
