ESG Webinar – AI-Age Leadership Strategy – The NAHQ Model

 The Executive Study Group (ESG) webinar named “The NAHQ Model: Strategic Boundaries for GenAI – Driving ROI Without Eroding Team Capability and Communication” was held by Asia Pacific Institute for Strategy Limited (APIFS) on 18th Mar 2026. The webinar topics included “From Hype to Strategy”, “The NAHQ Model” and “Building a Lasting Edge”.


In the beginning, Dr. Mark Lee introduced GenAI which is a subset of AI.


Then he reviewed company’s approaches for using AI tools including vague encouragement and communicate direction. Dr. Lee rethink the right question either focus on AI capability or focus on performance.


And then he proposed leadership framework to use AI.


The first poll about leadership challenges and the most participant selected “Lack of Strategic Clarity” (36.6%) and the second one was “Managerial Capability Gap” (24.6%).


After that Dr. Mark Lee proposed a framework for choosing AI applications named NAHQ model.


The x-axis is from Low-risk Tasks to High-risk Tasks. It can be considered as error cost.


The y-axis is from Explicit Knowledge to Tacit Knowledge. 95% of tacit knowledge come from experience, thinking, competence, commitment and deed.


The first part “N” stands for No Regrets. Dr. Lee briefed the application of AI in different department in Case 1 & 2. It is low cost of error and explicit knowledge.


The second part “A” means Creative Analyst. It is low cost of error and tacit knowledge.


The third part “H” is for Human First. It is high cost of error and tacit knowledge.


The last part “Q” represents Quality Control. It is high cost of error and explicit knowledge.


The second poll was related to Strategic Priority. The result showed most of participant selected in zone “N” (34.1%) and “A” (31.4%).


Finally, Dr. Mark Lee discussed turning AI access into competitive advantage through three pillars with actions. The pillar 1 is “First-mover advantage in your industry”. The pillar 2 is “Proprietary data advantage” and the pillar 3 is “Complementary human assets”. The final insight is to turn GenAI from capability to advantage.
