CityU Eminence Society Shanghai Hangzhou Exchange Tour – Day 3

The CityU Eminence Society (CES) arranged a Shanghai Hangzhou Exchange Tour from 14^th to 17^th Nov 2019. The schedule arrangement showed that we would visit Alibaba Group (阿里巴巴) and then to enjoy the show named “Enduring Memories of HangZhou (最憶是杭州)” (old named was “Impression West Lake (印象西湖)” in the first day. On 15^th Nov, we would visit Geely (吉利汽車) and Zhejiang University (浙江大學). On 16^th Nov, we would visit Wuzhen (烏鎮) and join the Alumni Dinner (co-organized with CityU Shanghai Alumni Association). Lastly day morning is free time and then we went to Hong Kong in afternoon. On 16^th Nov, we visited Wuzhen in the morning.

Our guide told us that didn’t buy and touch the things in those shops.

People still left in this old town. One of famous food was fried lamb.

Then I visited the local wine shop.

Traditional wine making method was observed. I also brought the local wine named “三白酒” for our lunch.

And then we visited the cloth dye house. Mr. Peter Jung, Dr. Gary Cheng, Mr. Ray Chan and I took a photo in front of the house.

We saw many dyed cloth.

After that we enjoyed the river scene.

I took a photo with Dr. Venus Tang and Dr. Rocky Lam for memory this beautiful river.

During lunch, I took a photo with wine “三白酒” and then we enjoyed it immediately.

At night, we joined the exchange Alumni Dinner which was co-organized by CityU Eminence Society (CES) and CityU Shanghai Alumni Association.

We exchanged ideas with CityU Shanghai Alumni Association members and took photo for memory.

I also met young Shanghai alumni.

I met Mr. Andrew Fan and Mainland Alumni.

Many alumni from HK and Mainland China (Not only in Shanghai and Shenzhen) participated the dinner.

In the beginning, Ms. Xu Fei (CityU Shenzhen Alumni) was our MC.

Mr. Weekly Wong (Chairman, CES) gave welcome speech.

Then Mr. Nie Weiguo (聶偉國) introduced our two guest speakers in sharing session.

The first guest speaker was Dr. Lam Chi Man (林志民) (東亞銀行（中國）有限公司執行董事兼行長). He said his DBA external examiner is CityU Professor so he had relationship with CityU. Firstly, he introduced the development and history of The Bank of East Asia (東亞銀行). He said Shanghai positioning was international city. Future opportunity needed to consider Yangtze River Delta Integration (長三角一體化).

The second guest speaker was Ms. Li Xia (李霞) (遠播教育集團董事長) and she shared her entrepreneur experience. In the beginning, she had technology and she needed to seek suitable market. During startup, we must identify the right direction. Competition was inevitable and didn’t fear it. We faced the competition with right direction. After her first company succeed IPO, she focused on education. Child value establishment was very important. Based on Moscow hierarchy of needs, we needed to chase “Self-actualization”. Finally, she said educator needed to think what talent for society need after 10 year.

Then the CityU representative presented souvenirs to speakers and took a group photo.

I recognized a new alumni Mr. Jin Yuecheng (金岳成) (The People’s Bank of China, Shanghai Headoffice Foreign Exchange Administration) and introduced to Mr. Ray Chan. They were in the same industry.
