CityU Eminence Society Shanghai Hangzhou Exchange Tour – Day 2

The CityU Eminence Society (CES) arranged a Shanghai Hangzhou Exchange Tour from 14^th to 17^th Nov 2019. The schedule arrangement showed that we would visit Alibaba Group (阿里巴巴) and then to enjoy the show named “Enduring Memories of HangZhou (最憶是杭州)” (old named was “Impression West Lake (印象西湖)” in the first day. On 15^th Nov, we would visit Geely (吉利汽車) and Zhejiang University (浙江大學). On 16^th Nov, we would visit Wuzhen (烏鎮) and join the Alumni Dinner (co-organized with CityU Shanghai Alumni Association). Lastly day morning is free time and then we went to Hong Kong in afternoon. On 15^th Nov, we visited Geely Auto Experience Centre. Dr. Gary Cheng, Dr. Venus Tang, Dr. Rocky Lam and I took a photo in front of the Centre.

I took a photo with red race car.

I seems very economic and only sale for RMB 123,800!

Then I took a photo with Mr. Peter Jung in front of England Taxi.

We tried to go inside the Taxi and there were six seats. We could have meeting here.

The Geely representative introduced different products to us including mix fuel car, electrical car and automobile, etc.

Then we had meeting in the Geely University.

CES members were ready for the exchanging meeting. I seat near Ms. Agnes Wu.

In the beginning, Mr. Junping Shi (VP, Zhejiang Automotive Engineering Institute, Geely) introduced Geely representatives and gave welcome speech.

Then Mr. Weekly Wong (Chairman, CES) introduced the background of CityU Eminence Society.

After that Mr. Li presented development history of Geely from 1986 to 2019.

He also briefed their mission and value as follows:

i) Brand Mission: Create mobility experience that exceeds expectations

ii) Brand Core Value: Human-oriented, Innovation, Excellence

He mentioned Intelligent Technology Strategy that included intelligent connectivity and intelligent drive became part of Geely Auto’s core technological development strategy

Their product safety was excellence through Safety First Strategy.

Geely focused on talent development with three element that Respect People, Empower People and Uplift People. Then they employed Beijing Geely University to achieve this education goal.

Finally, we all had book named “New Manufacturing Era” as a gift.

We took a group photo in front of Geely University for memory.

Then we had quick lunch and we saw a beautiful hotel (ball shaped).

In afternoon, we visited Zhejiang University (ZJU) (浙江大學). I took a photo in front of Zhejiang California International Nanosystems Institute

Our two former Chairman & Chairlady Dr. Gary Cheng and Ms. Jenny Chan took a photo in the meeting room.

Mr. Weekly Wong (Chairman, CES) introduced the background of CityU Eminence Society to Prof. Hu Wei (胡煒) (浙江大學校長助理).

Prof. Hu introduced the development of Zhejiang University. It included history, today’s ZJU and future perspective.

Zhejiang University (former name was Qiushi Academy (求是書院)) had been established since 1897. During the Japan invasion, Zhejiang University moved for long distance and named “Wenjun Long March (文軍長征)”. Prof. Hu introduced their achievement and ranking second position in C9 (top nine university in China). Moreover, their R&D funding was up to RMB 4.56 Billion.

Moreover, their alumni were outstanding scholars such as Wu Wenjun (吳文俊). During Q&A session, I said CityU professor Prof. Jun Wang (Chair Profoessor of Computational Intelligence, CS Dept., CityU) won the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Achievement Award 2016 (吳文俊人工智能科學技術獎).

Finally, Prof. Hu introduced their positioning and strategic vision to be China Characteristic World Excellence University through three steps.

Lastly, we all took a group photo in campus.

Then I passed the Neo Space and it was for startup.

And then we visited the ZJU history museum.

I took a photo with Ms. Agnes Wu (青姐) in front of the brand “Qiushi Innovation (求是創新)”.

Also took a photo with Dr. Venus Tang.

The student helper was year 1 student and she had in-depth knowledge on the whole history of ZJU.

This two questions employed to ask student who studied in Zhejiang University.

i) What are you doing in Zhejiang University?

ii) What type of person you become after graduate?

We saw Jin Yung (金庸) photo and he was appointed Dean of School of Humanities.

After that we visited the Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology (ZJUMAA). I took a photo with Mr. Ray Chan and Dr. Gary Cheng in front of entry.
