HKSQ AGM Seminar on Reform the Past and Innovate - “New Quality Productive Force” (革故鼎新 -「新質生產力」)

HKSQ Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023/2024 was held on 13^th Sep 2024 both online and onsite in TQM office. I invited as guest speaker to give AGM Seminar named “ Reform the Past and Innovate - "New Quality Productive Force" (革故鼎新 - 「新質生產力」). In the beginning, I introduced the content of the topic. 

Firstly, Qian hexagram (乾卦) in I Ching was quoted to explain the product / people / organization life cycle.

Then I briefed the development of quality philosophies and innovation tools form first industrial revolution to fourth industrial revolution. In 2024, China firstly announced “New Quality Productive Force” indicating that we entered the fourth industrial revolution era. 

And then I explained the contents of “New Quality Productive Force”. I also used ChatGPT-4o to find the definition of "Productive" and it showed the source from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) but no ISO standard definition. In OECD iLibrary, "Productivity" is commonly defined as a ratio between the volume of output and the volume of inputs. In other words, it measures how efficiently production inputs, such as labor and capital, are being used in an economy to produce a given level of output.

After that Innovation description by using Revolution hexagram (革卦) and tripod hexagram (鼎卦) were employed and it could be represented “Change” and “Innovation”, respectively.

Each hexagram has six Yao (爻) indicated different stage. Both hexagrams were briefed their steps.

Finally, I employed Huawei digital transformation (DT) as example to fit I Ching wisdom through change and innovation management. One of most important factors is “Top Management Commitment” and then I showed the Governance structure for Change Management in Huawei.

Their result of DT achieved ROADS experience including real-time, on-demand, all-online, DIY and Social.

Lastly, I briefed the “Extenics” and extension innovation method and concluded that I Ching wisdom is able to integrate into quality management and got a great result.

Apart from Huawei digital transformation (DT), I added two most recently examples to demonstrate “New Quality Productive Force” and they were “Black Myth: Wukong” and “The tri-fold Huawei Mate XT”.

After AGM Seminar, Dr. Jane Wong (Chairman, HKSQ) chaired the AGM and reported all activities in the past year. 

Our Hon. Treasurer Dr. Mandict Wong reported HKSQ financial status. Our finance is very health and breakeven in last year. 

Finally, our Hon. Secretary Ms. Angela Wong reported the amendment of HKSQ M&A. Lastly, all participants agreed all new exco members, chairman report and financial report, as well as, M&A amendment.

At the end, HKSQ exco members, members and guests had dinner together.
