ANQ Congress Yokohama 2024 – Pre-Congress Visit on 16th & 17th Sep 2024

Asian Network for Quality (ANQ) Congress 2024 was held by Japanese Society for Quality Control (JSQC) in the Keio University, Yokohama, Japan from 16-20 Sep 2024. The congress theme was “Prosperity through Quality – Returning to Origins, Leaping into the Future”.  ANQ Certification and Examination Centre (CEC) meeting and ANQ Board meeting were held on 16th and 17th Sep 2024, respectively.  Since we arrival on 16th Sep, we missed the ANQ CEC meeting. Minda and I arrived the hotel “Richmond Hotel Premier Musashikosugi” in afternoon.

We met Mr. Cheung Kah Leong (SQI) and had the same flight from Hong Kong to Haneda Airport, Japan.

When we entered the hotel room, it is much larger than hotel in Tokyo and with massage chair.

Then we had dinner in the food hall outside.

On 17th Sep, we had breakfast and met CSQ and ISQ representatives. We took a photo for memory. They needed to attend broad meeting this morning.

We then took the train to the Keio University campus. After rush hour, there are very few people on the train.

We arrived the Yagami Campus.

Minda and I took a photo in front of the main building of Keio University.

However, we went to the wrong Campus, the board meeting and congress would be held in Hiyoshi Campus and only gala dinner would be held in Yagami Campus. So that we walked to Hiyoshi campus and passed the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Arrived at the reception area and saw the signage.

Representatives of ANQ board members attended the meeting. Ms. Zhang Tiantian (张甜甜) from CAQ sit in the last row.

Minda and I as observers and took a photo for memory.

Prof. Shu Yamada (ANQ Chairperson and Professor, Faculty of Science & Technology, Keio University) led the meeting and discussed the arrangement of ANQ congress and awards in coming days.

During Mr. GE Tan (SQI) discussed the AREQP and Service Award, we also met VAQH representative Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung and his colleague. They gave us love and took a photo for memory.

Unfortunately, our Russian friends Ms. Larisa Fedyk and Mr. Igor Pundel were absent from the congress due to visa issues.

When we left the meeting room, we saw a sculpture of the founder. Yukichi Fukuzawa (1835-1901) was the founder of Keio University and his image now adorns the ten-thousand yen note, the largest denomination of Japanese currency.

Then we went to the souvenir shop to try on school uniforms. Looks good, but you can’t buy it now, you have to wait two weeks!

After that we went to the Yokohama Air Cabin.

Just Minda and I entered that cable car.

There is a Ferris Wheel.

Finally, we saw the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

I took pictures of the entire warehouse.

Finally, we found a traditional Japanese restaurant.

We had a Mid-Autumn Festival dinner in Yokohama, Japan.
