ANQ Congress Yokohama 2024 – Day 2 (Part B – Closing Ceremony)
Asian
Network for Quality (ANQ) Congress 2024 was held by Japanese Society for Quality
Control (JSQC) in the Keio University, Yokohama, Japan from 16-20 Sep 2024. The
congress theme was “Prosperity through Quality – Returning to Origins, Leaping
into the Future”. The Closing Ceremony would be held on 19th Sep 2024
after parallel sessions. Before closing ceremony, Minda and I took a photo in
front of the banner for memory.

And
then Minda and I took selfies at the venue, which was almost full.
The
third keynote speaker was Prof. Masahiko Munechika (Waseda University, Japan)
and his topic entitled “Quality of Health Care Assured by the Organization -
QMS Approach”. He mentioned QMS is a mechanism, job practices for providing
high-quality healthcare and SDCA cycle employed for daily management (where S
stands for Standard).
After
that Prof. Munechika briefed the overall image of Aso lizuka Hospital’s TQM model.
It covered Policy management, Daily management, Kaizen, management and
technical skill education so as to achieve value creation and quality assurance.
Finally,
he quoted M. Kaneko’s characteristics of Hospital Operation for quality management
in healthcare. Prof. Munechika said most people are engaged in routine work,
the incentive for improvement is weak. Thus, top leadership is necessary
driving force and key management indicators help to implement daily management.
Lastly he said Iizuka Hospital had received the Deming Prize but this is only
the beginning.
The
last keynote speaker was Prof. Prem K. Motwani (Jawaharlal Nehru University, India)
and his presentation title named “Becoming World Class-Lessons from Made-in Japan”.
In the beginning, Prof. Motwani reviewed TQM principles and Philosophy, as well
as, the story of “Made in Japan”.
After
that he introduced lessons from management based on Deming’s 14 points for
transformation. Prof. Motwani also mentioned Deming theories on different roles
including government, corporate, managers, etc. He also mentioned how “Made-in-Japan”
developed including “Training within Industry”, “Establishment of industry
associations (e.g. JUSE, JSQC)”, “Use of academics as assessors in TQM/TPM”,
etc.
Finally,
Prof. Prem K. Motwani discussed TQM and TPM in India. Lastly, he stated Japan’s
role in Indian manufacturing for their project “Make in India” and “Skill India”
since 2016-17. For instance, they established JIMs (Japan-India Institute for
Manufacturing), JEC (Japanese Endowed Courses) and some manufacturing industry
executive development program.
Then
Prof. Shu Yamada announced the best paper award and presented certificates to
awardees.

Prof. Tomomichi Suzuki reported ANQ Congress 2024 summary.
There
are 16-member organizations with 240 participants and 121 paper presented.
Dr. Duan Yonggang (段永剛) is the coming ANQ Chairman and he gave his vision message.
Lastly, Mr. Chandra Mouli (ISQ) introduced the ANQ 2025 that would be held in M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru, India.
ANQ
2025 would be held from 3rd to 7th Nov 2025 and some
important dates were listed.
