Ir. Dr. The Hon WK Lo (Chairman of HKQAA and Representative of the Engineering Functional Constituency of the Legislative Council) gave a welcoming remark. He said the scheme had prepared one year ago before Gutter Oil incident in Taiwan and the Pilot program launched in July 2014. The HKCOR is suitable for Cooking Oil supplier, companion, collector and processor. He appreciated different parties supported the scheme including Environment Bureau & Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
The first officiating guest was Ms Christine Loh Kung-wai (JP, Under Secretary for the Environment, The Government of HKSAR) and she gave a speech on the recycle part of waste oil. She expected Environment Bureau & EPD cooperated with HKQAA for long term sustainable development in Hong Kong industry.
The second officiating guest was Miss Vivian LAU Lee-kwan (JP, Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, The Government of HKSAR) and she briefed recently actions about gutter oil event in Taiwan such as stopped import of Substandard Cooking Oil and Recall all Substandard Cooking Oil in the market.

At the end, Dr. Michael Lam (CEO, HKQAA) gave a closing remark and he said that citizen could use this logo to differentiate which food suppliers had the capability to trace their oils’ original source.
It was a very successful scheme for Cooking & Waste Cooking Quality Monitoring through identification and traceability. For more information, please read reference.
