SGS Webinar – EN18286 AI QMS for EU AI Act

SGS Webinar entitled “EN 18286: AI Quality Management Systems for EU AI Act” was held on 21^st Oct 2026. There are three speaker and they are Mr. Willy Fabritius (Global Head of Strategy & Business Development InfoSec, SGS), Ms. Azadeh Haratiannezhadi (Global Technical Experts – AI Assurance, SGS) and Mr. Sergio Frauca Roca (Global AI Assurance Expert, SGS). 

In the beginning, Mr. Willy Fabritius introduced the webinar and briefed the overview of EU AI Act and its harmonized standards including EN 18286:2026 and others.

Then Ms. Azadeh Haratiannezhadi mentioned why AI quality management are matters through ISO/IEC 42001:2023 and EN 18286:2026. It is based on Article 17 under EU AI Act that providers of high-risk AI systems shall put a QMS in place to ensure the compliance with this regulation.

And then she explained in organizational and system lifecycle layer with the recruitment example.

After that Mr. Sergio Frauca Roca introduced EN 18286 for High-Risk AI system.

He briefed the relationship among clauses and its implementation focus.

Then he stated each clause in detail. For example, some essential requirements mentioned in clause 4 QMS that related to different articles.

In clause 6 – Planning, it compared between QMS risk and AI system risk.

And then he introduced AI system realization and AI lifecycle (ISO/IEC 22989:2023) in clause 8.

The AI system realization - inception, design and development were introduced in clause 8.

One of important elements was data management.

In clause 9, it was operations and control as well as included the post-market monitoring plan.

Finally, Ms. Azadeh Haratiannezhadi stated the interplay with other management systems such as ISO 42001 and ISO 13485.

Mr. Sergio Frauca Roca briefed the update of EU AI Act and the standard.

He also mentioned the impacts on EU AI Act and Compliance with CE marking.

Lastly, Mr. Willy Fabritius introduced SGS AI assurance product portfolio to achieve AI Trust Checking.
