The 6th National Quality Conference 2017 in Dammam, Saudi Arabia – Opening Ceremony

The 6th National Quality Conference (NQC) organized by Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) from 28th to 30th Nov 2017. It aims to meet the updates and enhances the quality culture through spreading the latest knowledge in this field.  Implementation of quality and its practices helps us to achieve the Saudi vision 2030 using the latest quality standards.  The opening ceremony was held on 28 Nov 2017 at 7:00pm.  I took a photo in front of the stage.  


Before the opening ceremony, Dr. Ayed Alamri (President of Saudi Quality Council) led speakers’ preparation pre-meeting.  


He introduced the program and rules as well as thanks all speakers whose participating the 6th NQC to contribute the Saudi Vision 2030.  


Then we introduced ourselves.


Prof. Mohamed Zairi (Executive Chairman, European Centre for Best Practice Management (ECBPM)) briefed his background.


Before the meeting, organizer gave speaker souvenir which was coffee pot set.

The Opening Ceremony started, Governor of Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) arrived.


In the beginning, it was recitation of the Holy Quran (背誦《可蘭經》).


Mr. GE Tan (Chairman, Singapore Quality Institute) was speaker representative to present the opening speech that Singapore as a guest of honor to highlight the Singaporean best applications and practices in the field of quality and institutional excellence in the session of the Singaporean experience as reference for Saudi Vision 2030.


Then a conference video was played to introduce Saudi Arabia.


HE Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi (Governor of Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO)) gave a welcome speech.


Dr. Majid bin Abdalla Al-Qasabi  (Minister of Trade and Investment – Chairman of SASO’s Board of Directors) gave speech of the sponsor.


Then they presented a trophy to Mr. GE Tan.


Speakers of Singapore, Korea and Hong Kong took a group photos.

Then Saudi Media interviewed Singapore team.


And then interviewed Mr. Sunil Sinha (Resident Director – Tata Sons – Middle East & North Africa (MENA)) 


I was also interviewed and I said it was a great conference to gather quality professionals in the world to exchange ideas on Quality and Innovation as well as best practices.  


Mr. Mike Turner (Managing Partner- Oakland Institute) also expressed his view to the interviewer. 


At the end, we had dinner together.
