ISSC 10th Anniversary and Annual Dinner 2016

Mr. Peter Fung and I represented Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) were honor to be invited by International Six Sigma Council (ISSC) to join their 10th Anniversary and Annual Dinner again on 22 May 2014.  We met many friends in different society included but not limited to IET, MQMA, SZAQ, SSS, QFDHK, ISIHK, etc.  Before the event, We took a group photo with Dr. Rita Wan (Chairman, ISSC) for memory.


Dr. PK Chan (Honorary Advisor, ISSC) and Prof. Philip Chan (Honorary Advisor, ISSC) were invited to lead the celebration of the ISSC 10th Anniversary through lighting our mobile.


We all lighted our mobile and turn off all lamp in the room and many beautiful stars in the room.


In the beginning, Dr. Rita Wan (Chairman, ISSC) introduced the ISSC vision and reviewed the activities in the past 10 years. ISSC Building Blocks which contained six pillars to support the quality excellence and to provide a list of six sigma & lean professionals to employers to create business values.  Average number of event per years was 4.5 including AGM, Seminar, Factory visit and Conference.  Then she briefed memorable events in each year and I highlighted the following events:
-          Selected to be one of Hong Kong’s Most Valuable Companies 2011 by Mediazone’s Magazine
-          2015 Asia Quality Best Practice Award (AQBPA)


Mr. Solomon Poon (VP, Quality and Operations Excellence, Greater China Organization, Sanmina) was our guest speaker and his topic named “Revitalization of the Lean Six Sigma Program in Sanmina Greater China”.  Before his talk, the corporate video was showed that Sanmina was providing “One Stop Total Manufacturing Solution in Greater China” and their objectives included Quality Products, On Time Delivery, Flexibility, Value-Added Services, On Going Cost Reduction to achieve Total Customer Satisfaction


Firstly, Mr. Poon introduced a book to us named “Good Leaders ask Great Questions” by John C. Maxwell and then he shared what Organization Challenges he faced such as Profit plus Saving.  He appreciated to his top management especially Dr. PK Chan for their leadership and commitment.  Mr. Poon also shared steering committee approach was Strategy (i.e. 3 year plan) and Execution (Action Plan).


Mr. Poon said they had more than 1000 belts in Great China and the core competence in the Quality Organization needed to develop “Subject Matter Experts”.  They had Yellow Belt, Blue Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt.  Each belt had different project and topic.  Moreover, Sanmina had Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Database for consolidating different belt’s projects. It aimed that global sharing for replication.  


Moreover, they established IDEA System for all staff involvement and its incentive was “Bonus Points” system for gift items.  Finally, Mr. Poon concluded that didn’t limit people’s potential.


Dr. Rita Wan presented a souvenir to Mr. Solomon Poon.


After that all guests took a group photo.


ISSC executive committee members and advisors gave the toast to all participants.

I am lucky to win the table prize and all winners took a photo for memory.


At the end, all participants took a group photo.


It is my six times to join ISSC annual dinner since 2010.  I would like to summarize ISSC annual night that I participated and recorded below:
