ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement (WCQI) 2011 will be held on 16-18 May 2011 in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. In this year, ASQ (the world’s largest network of quality resources and experts) has celebrated 65 years of providing the insights, ideas, and tools to advance the global quality community since 1946. ASQ partners with 16 non-profit organizations around the world – groups with visions and goals that are in line with those of ASQ. HKSQ is one of ASQ 16 world partners.
Nevertheless, it is our pleasure to inform that 2011 is also the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ). To mark this significant and memorable event, it is planned that a publication commemorating the anniversary will be published in 2011. Dr. KS Chin (Ex-chairman of HKSQ), Ms. Minda Chiang (Secretary of HKSQ) and I (Chairman of HKSQ) will join ASQ World Conference and celebrate both ASQ 65th and HKSQ 25th anniversary, respectively.
The history of Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) and our mission are shared below:
The Predecessor of Hong Kong Society for Quality, formed in 1986, was the Hong Kong Group of the American Society for Quality Control (ASQC) International Chapter. It was renamed as Hong Kong Society for Quality Control (HKSQC) in 1989 to reflect increasing local involvement. The Society maintains its affiliation with ASQC after the name change. In 1997, HKSQC was renamed as Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ).
The Society is a not-for-profit organization established with the objectives to promote greater awareness of the need for quality in Hong Kong for ensuring product and service excellence through continuous improvement of quality and customer satisfaction, and to provide continuing education to professionals involved in the quality and reliability disciplines. Being a leading quality management authority in Hong Kong and having a long and well-established relationship with ASQ, HKSQ has been recognized as a WorldPartner of ASQ since 2002. Furthermore, HKSQ is also a founding member of the Asian Network for Quality (ANQ).
