Visit ActiveCarePharmacy Limited for COMP Students’ Capstone Project

On 24^th Mar 2025 afternoon, I visited Mr. Peter Suen (Pharmacist & Owner, ACP ActiveCareGroup (明心医疗集团)) and discussed if any opportunity for COMP Students’ Capstone Project. Peter had supported my FYP students in 2018 for automation process of a pills package for elders. 

He showed me pills package sample.

Then we visited the operation area and demonstrated the operation flow.

His prototype for automation process recognition light house needed to improve the accuracy.

Lastly, Mr. Peter Suen gave me a book named “The Power of Role Models: Top 100 Outstanding Chinese in the New Era” (楷模的力量 新時代百大杰出華人)

Mr. Peter Suen is the first Chinese recognized as Leadership in Pharmacy Award by Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) in 2013!

Visit Vitargent (International) Biotechnology Ltd for COMP Students’ Capstone Project

Minda and I invited Dr. Xueping Chen to have lunch in FoodLab, Science Park on 24^th Mar 2025. When I serviced in HKSTP, I assisted Vitargent to develop ISO 17025 Laboratory QMS and achieved HOKLAS accreditation. Then we discussed the possibility to have capstone project for computer student about vision analysis by deep learning. 

After lunch, Xueping led me to visit her laboratory. 

We took photos inside the laboratory.

She showed me some photos of Fish Embryos and it is good opportunities for machine recognition through AI.

Finally, I visited her office and observed her professional achievement.

Moreover, I found two old photos we took during HOKLAS assessment in 2012.

I also met my old colleague in EPA Centre, CityU Mr. Henry Lee when arrived Science Park.

CityU CSCI Mentorship Programme – Networking Event 2025

I was great to be invited to participate the networking event organized by the College of Science (CSCI) Mentorship Programme on 22^nd Mar 2025. The event aimed to visit a new Student Residence at Whitehead, Ma On Shan and then BBQ together at Whitehead Barbecue. Firstly, I met two mentees Mr. DENG Ruiqi and Mr. ZHANG Zhihan.  I gave my book named “Extenics: The Logic of Innovation” to my students. Then we took a photo together at the entrance of the student residence.

This student residence was named “Lee Shau Kee Student Residence Village” on 6 Dec 2024 that appreciated Lee Shau Kee Foundation’s support to CityU. Lee Shau Kee was the founder of Hong Kong property giant Henderson Land Development. He died in March 2025 at age 97. We all remembered his contribution to CityU.

We were divided into four groups, led by volunteers. Many international students live here and participate in volunteer work.

A new sport complex was in there.

Then we visited the fitness room.

After that we visited the undergraduate residence.

Multipurpose rooms and shared kitchen were visited.

And then the student representative led us to visit his room.

This is a twin room.

Finally, we took a group photo for memory.

The second event was Whitehead Barbecue.

I took pictures of our happy time.

Then we found that Prof. Alex Wong arrived here by canoe.

Leader 2030 Webinar – How Are AI Projects Different from Traditional IT Projects

The Executive Study Group (ESG) webinar named “Leader 2030 – How Are AI Projects Different from Traditional IT Projects” was held by Asia Pacific Institute for Strategy Limited (APIFS) on 19^th Mar 2025. Before the webinar, Dr. Mark Lee introduced the mission of Leader 2030 that aims to develop leadership capabilities for 2030s and build a strong network of future-focused leaders. Then he introduced the guest speaker Mr. Eric Moy (CEO, KB Quest). 

In the beginning, Mr. Eric Moy briefed the trend from Large Language Models (LLM) to Large Reasoning Models (LRM). Only DeepSeek is open source in the top level of LRM.

Then he mentioned from Agentic to AGI that AGI possesses the ability to understand, learn, and apply knowledge across tasks at a level comparable to human intelligence. And then he demonstrated the latest AI Agent “Manus” as example. It showed how to compare NVDA, MRVL & TSM stock prices and wrote website to demonstrate it.

After that Mr. Eric Moy compared the definition between traditional IT project and AI project. The key differences are from rule-based decision to Agentic AI / AI making decision.

He said AI projects’ scope was difficult to define and framework was still evolving.

Different skills and team composition included data scientist, machine learning engineer and domain experts that emphasized on research and experimentation but not focused on coding and system integration.

Testing of traditional IT project and AI project were different from focus on functional testing to model accuracy. Where data were core component in AI project.

Finally, Mr. Eric Moy mentioned three dimensions to be considered as AI project completion that were accuracy, time and cost. The most important one is to establish a hard deadline! Maintenance is also considered as ongoing such as new version of GenAI launch.

Lastly, he reviewed five factors of distinctions.

He recommended AI project flow from coaching to executive for expectation management and then defined the firm deadline, after that define minimal acceptable standards and ensure executive involvement.

At the end, he concluded three must-dos for AI adoption and they were accountable, controls and AI assistant.

After Q&A, Dr. Mark Lee introduced the next topic entitled “The Secret for Successful Strategy Execution”.

HKQF the 16th TIC-ITAC Meeting 2025

The 16th meeting of Industry Training Advisory Committee for Testing, Inspection & Certification Industry (TIC-ITAC) under Hong Kong Qualification Framework (HKQF) was held on 18th Mar 2025. We took a group photo for memory.

Matthew reported that Dr. Jane Wong had shared TIC experience in secondary school (her mother school).

He also briefed my sharing HKQF to PolyU ABCT students in this afternoon.

Then we discussed the promotion TIC activities to secondary school students that cooperated from HKQF, HKCTC and Education Bureau.

After the meeting, I took a photo with Felix and Raymond. Then we discussed my COMP student final year project. Felix showed interest to support.
