It is pity that I was going to USA at that
day and didn't join the HKQAA symposium this time. At the Symposium, HKQAA announced the kickoff
of its new initiative, the “HKQAA Hong Kong Registration – Start-ups”. The scheme is one of HKSTP-HKQAA MOU
activities. I would like to record this
announcement and previous activities below.
Mr Nicholas W. Yang, JP,
Secretary for Innovation and Technology, the Government of the HKSAR, was the
officiating guest of the kickoff ceremony.
Mr. Andrew Young (Chief Commercial Officer) also joined the ceremony.
The number of start-ups has increased significantly in the past few years. To tie with the boom in start-ups and government’s policy of innovation development, HKQAA has developed a new initiative, the “HKQAA Hong Kong Registration – Start-ups”, to help new companies enhance and demonstrate their management competence. The scheme aims to motivate them to systematically manage their operations, particularly in quality, financial and information security aspects, so as to attain long-term success.
Both Mr. Andrew Yong and Mr. Peter Mok (Head
of Incubation Program) are speakers in the symposium.
On 31 March 2016, HKSTP celebrates graduation of 48 start-ups from Incubation Programmes. HKSTP also announced its collaboration with domain experts from local and Beijing to launch three new initiatives targeted at start-ups: the “HKQAA Hong Kong Registration – Start-ups” scheme organised in partnership with Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (“HKQAA”); the “Start-up CEO Mentoring Programme” organised in cooperation with Technology Incubation Network (“TIN”); and a partnership between HKSTP and Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation (“BICI”) borne of the signing of a memorandum of understanding, which covers various initiatives supporting local research and development, including the establishment of a HK$100 million BICI Innovation Fund by BICI in Hong Kong.
