HKTIC 32th AGM and Annual Gathering

Hong Kong Association for Testing, Inspection and Certification Limited (HKTIC) the 32th Annual General Meeting and Annual Gathering was held on 9 December 2013. It was honor that Mr. Raymond Yip (Assistant Executive Director) and Mr. Kesson Lee (Secretary-General(T&C), HKCTC) were invited to be guest speakers in HKTIC Annual Gathering tonight. I summarized the event for sharing below.

The 32th AGM was held before the Annual Gathering dinner. All general committee members gathered to discuss HKTIC issues.


After that Ms. Christina Law (Chairlady of HKTIC) gave welcoming remarks. She said HKTIC members included about 70% employees in the Testing and Certification Industry in Hong Kong. Moreover, Professional Certification Scheme for Testing Personnel (PCSTP) was launched and had about 105 certified as CTT and 188 certified as CPT. Moreover, HKTIC issued some booklets to introduce Toy, Electrical and Electronic testing. The next one was Textile testing.


Mr. Raymond Yip (Assistant Executive Director) was the first guest speaker and his presentation topic entitled "The Booming Chinese Mainland Econcomy and the Corresponding Opportunities for Hong Kong Testing, Inspection & Certification Industry". Firstly, Mr. Yip mentioned three advantages of Hong Kong concerning TIC which were "International Trading Hub", "Proximity to PRC" and "CEPA".


Mr. Raymond Yip (Assistant Executive Director) was the first guest speaker and his presentation topic entitled "The Booming Chinese Mainland Econcomy and the Corresponding Opportunities for Hong Kong Testing, Inspection & Certification Industry". Firstly, Mr. Yip mentioned three advantages of Hong Kong concerning TIC which were "International Trading Hub", "Proximity to PRC" and "CEPA".


Moreover, some mainland consumer's attitudes toward green consumption survey was performed and found that about 80% customer favour to purchasing product certified eco-business company. When compared with the green products certificates, the ranking was found that International Certificates was the highest recognized, and then was Hong Kong Certificates; the last confidence was Chinese Mainland Certificates.


Finally, Mr. Yip concluded that traditional industries included "Textiles, clothing and footwear", "Toys and games", "Medical items" and "Electrical and electronic products" were growing demands for testing and certification. Moreover, the booming sectors included Environmental Protection, Food and Jewellery were requiring more testing services. Therefore, capturing opportunities in the promising Chinese mainland market, TIC industry would have plenty of room for a prosperous growth.

Mr. Kesson Lee (Secretary-General(T&C), HKCTC) was the second guest speaker and his talk was about the collaboration of HKTIC and HKCTC in future. Firstly, Mr. Lee appreciated HKTIC assistance on the booklets for TIC industry. He express his good view on the future development in the industry. Moreover, CEPA had a room of enhancement to benefit TIC industry in Hong Kong. Lastly, he hope all participants Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.


After that our chairlady presented a souvenir to both guests.
