The technical visit to Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point (蓮塘/香園圍囗岸) Construction Site which organized by Hong Kong Chinese Institute of Engineers (HKCIE) (香港中國工程師學會) on 10th Oct 2017. Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) was one of co-organizers.  We took a photo in the Fanling Highway Interchange construction site.  I would like to summarize today’s visit below.

Dr. Aaron Tong (Chairman, HKCIE; Former Chairman, HKSQ) was this visit leader and he briefed to us during travel.

HKCIE booked a big travel bus for this visit and we reached the location of Fanling Highway Interchange area.

We went to the construction office first.

After briefed safety rules and we wore the safety helmet and high visibility vest before visit the site.

We went up the steps and its capacity upto 20 people.

Minda and I took a photo for memory.

The whole bridge of Fanling Highway Interchange was showed.

Solar energy facilities for workers use were observed.

Then we took a group photo in front of the Mobile Lifting Frame equipment.

After visit, we went back to the construction office and the engineer explained the construction details to us.

The segment was transported through the marine transport route from Dongguan to Tuen Mun.

The most difficult part was the segment erection in curve area.  There are totally 1326 segment and had installed 1285 segment.

The curve part real photo was taken.

They employed steel mold for the key segment and concreted the gap between key segment and the spans of the viaduct.  The gap used for adjustment if any deviation within tolerance.

The following photo showed the segments linked up other by temporary pre-stressing.

I found the construction map from CEDD to see the overall works.

The future paths from Hong Kong to Shenzhen were demonstrated.

After the visit, Dr. Aaron Tong and I had lunch with Dr. Mickey Li (李榕) (Chairman, SZAQ) who visited Hong Kong in these two days.

At the end, I went back to CityU for the CityU EngD Society executive committee meeting to arrange the coming activities.

Today is a busy day for me!
