The 2023 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
Innovation and Development cum the 18th National Extenics Annual Conference and
the 40th Anniversary Seminar ("2023年国际人工智能创新发展大会、全国第18届可拓学年会暨可拓学创立40周年研讨会") were organized by Chinese Association for Artificial
Intelligence (CAAI) (中国人工智能学会) and Extenics Professional Committee of CAAI (中国人工智能学会可拓学专业委员会), as well as, Research Institute of Extenics and
Innovation Methods, GDUT (廣東工業大學可拓學與創新方法研究所) from 18th to 20th Aug 2023. The day two
venue is in Harbour View Hotel & Resort (珠海怡景灣大酒店) and we took a group photo at the
end of the conference.
Before the conference, I took a photo with Dr. Yongwei Sun (孙永伟) and Ms. Li Jianming (李劍明).
I also took a photo with Ms. Li and her daughter who is
volunteer for Extenics 40th anniversary conference.
Then I took a photo with Prof. Yang Chunyan (杨春燕) for signing the book which is a new
version of “Extenics”.
I also took a photo with Dr. Tang Long (汤龙) after signing his book. This new
version had added his contribution on dependent functions and some new topics
including Extension Logic, Extension Identification and Searching, as well as,
Extension Intelligence.

Day 2 on 20th Aug 2023
Conference Theme Report Session
The first
speaker was Prof. Sun Fuchun (清华大学计算机科学与技术系孙富春教授) and his presentation title was “Embodied
Large Model and Behavioral Learning (具身大模型与行为学习)”.
In the beginning, Prof. Sun briefed why Large Language Model need body (i.e.
robot).
He explained the LLM plus body to be robot so as to complete
task. Based on observation, robot could simulate some skills. Finally, Prof. Sun expected LLM plus body to be intelligent
robot that breakthough the interaction between physical and cyber world.
The second speaker was Prof. Liu Qiang (广东工业大学机电工程学院院长刘强教授) and his topic entitled “Intelligent
Upgrade to promote High-quality Development of Equipment Manufacturing Industry
(智能化升级推动装备制造业高质量发展)”.
Firstly, Prof. Liu reviewed technology background between national and
international such as industry 4.0.
Then he suggested the digital transformation to change the
China position in smile curve or manufacturing plus market to enhance value
added in the middle of smile curve.
Lastly, Prof. Liu proposed the upgrade path for digital manufacturing
from digital control to automation to Informatization and then to intelligentization.
The third speaker was Prof. Gu Xinjian (浙江大学顾新建教授) and his presentation named “The Relationship
between Intelligent Manufacturing and Innovation Development (智能制造与创新发展的关系)”. He firstly reviewed Made in China
2025, Industry 4.0, etc. He said the critical part is who innovate the
intelligent equipment.
Then he introduced the new generation of information
technology which is the core of intelligent manufacturing and also the drive of
innovation development.
Finally, Prof. Gu employed extenics’ basic element theory to
build the knowledge map from standardization to innovation.
The fourth speaker was Dr. Yongwei Sun (北京市科协产业特派员孙永伟博士) and his presentation title was “Interpretation
of the Theoretical System of Innovation Engineering (创新工程学理论体系解读)”. He briefed the background of innovation
enginneering and bridge education and industry.
He is one of key contributors in the world's first systematic
guidance document on innovation methodology - Innovation Engineering. And he
added Extension Innovation Method in this guidance as one of innovation
methods.
At the end, Dr. Sun concluded that variety of methodologies
have been integrated to form a richer theoretical system, so that the
point-line-surface comprehensively covers the different needs of enterprises.
The fifth speaker was Dr. Pan Xuwei (浙江理工大学经济管理学院院长潘旭伟博士) and his topic entitled “Knowledge
Extension Optimization and Service in Open Knowledge System (开放知识系统中的知识可拓优化与服务)”.
He introduces the characteristic research of open knowledge system, the
integration principle of knowledge optimization process and service process.
Finally, he employed Extension Model to present the knowledge matters.
The sixth speaker was Prof. Qin Jianjun (北京建筑大学秦建军教授) and his presentation topic was “Artificial
Intelligence Basic Education in the Era of Large Models (大模型时代的人工智能基础教育)”.
In the beginning, he briefed AI entering the ChatGPT LLM era.
Man plus AI can do many things. Technological Singularity is coming.
Finally, Prof. Qin stated the development history of AI
fundation education milestone in China and pointed out some ideas including Education in Large Language Model,
Education Singularity, AI Education, etc.
Mr. Yin Hanfan (深圳市知识产权研究会鄞汉藩会长) was the seventh speaker and his presentation title named “ Application
of Extenics in Intellectual Property Strategy (可拓学在知识产权战略中的运用)”. In the beginning, Mr. Yin briefed
the innovation thinking through basic element theory and extenision innovation
method employed in IP management.
Mr. Yin like to call basic element to be innovation element. Moreover,
he explained the “Dao” to use Extenics in Element (元), Source (源), Fate (緣) and Original (原).
Then he introduced some application on patent circumvention
through extenics design method.
Lastly, Mr. Yin discussed the IP strategy and its Patent
Portfolio (專利佈局).
Dr. Jyayung.Gwo (国际注册临床心理咨询师郭嘉詠博士) was the eighth speaker and her
topic entitled “A Preliminary Study of Extenics in Psychology (可拓学在心理学中的应用研究)”. She briefed some preliminary
research on the application of extenics in psychology.
She proposed Extension Psychology and applied it to transfer negative
emotions to positive emotions during hypnosis.
Dr. Gwo demonstrated the application of Extension Psychology
for enhancing employee psycohological well-being in enterprises.
The nineth speaker was Prof. Dou Erxiang (北京大学软件与微电子学院窦尔翔教授) and his presentation title was “Enterprise
Value Chain Management Model Innovation—Organizational Reengineering based on
Matter-element, Human-element, Affair-element, Material-Nonmaterial Analysis
Method (企业价值链管理模式创新——基于物元人元事元虚实分析法的组织再造)”.
He discussed the development of business model from level 1
to level 9.
The last speaker was Prof. He Jing (英国牛津大学HeJing教授) and her presentation title named “Extenics
and Green Pesticide Creation (可拓学与绿色农药创制)”. She summarized and reviewed the related theories of extenics,
as well as the progress of computational models in the fields of virtual
screening, rational design, various toxicity predictions, and multi-omics in
the creation of new pesticides and chemical risk management, etc.
Sharing Session II
I was
assigned in the sharing session II and my presentation topic entitled “ ExtenicsGPT-
Preliminary Study on Extenics plus Generative Artificial Intelligence to make New
Product Prototypes (可拓学GPT-可拓学加上生成人工智能制作新产品原型初探)”. Firstly I briefed Extension Innovation
Method, ChatGPT and Dall-e application through literature review.
The logo of ExtenicsGPT is created by using Dall-e. But the
spell was wrong that means generative AI is not 100% right.
Finally, I presented the ExtenicsGPT approach and its
application through students projects.
