In the beginning, Mr. Peter Fung (Chairman, HKSQ) presented the rules of the HKSQ Student Project Competition 2014 presentation. There were three topics as below:
Topic 1 related to supplier evaluation
Topic 2 related to reliability test
Topic 3 related to customer satisfaction
We invited one guest as observer, two guests and two HKSQ exco members into our judge panel. They are Dr. Percy Chan (GP) Mr. Johnny Sung (GP), Mr. Larry Lee (GP), Mr. Ben Tsang (Senior Director of SGS; Exco member of HKSQ) and Mr. Karson Chui (Former Chairman of HKSQ).
The first presentation team (Team 1) was from PolyU and they studied Topic 2.
Accelerated Model, Factor and Life Test Plan were employed to analysis the problem and propose solutions.
The second presentation team (Team 2) also come from CityU and they studied Topic 3. They proposed to use QFD as Health Indicator for QA system to enhance customer satisfaction.
The third presentation team (Team 3) was studied at PolyU and their study was in Topic 1. They proposed Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to establish indicator system for supplier evaluation.
The fourth presentation team (Team 4) was studied at HKUST and they studied the Topic 3. They found the linkage between customer complaint and defect modes and then proposed the solution using a MySQL programing.
The fifth presentation team (Team 5) was from PolyU and their solution was for Topic 1. They suggested to use price, quality and on-time deliver to establish supplier selection system.
The sixth presentation team (Team 6) was from CityU and they studied Topic 3. They used grouping system based on Affinity Diagram to make up a “Matching List”
Team 7 was the seventh presentation team from PolyU and they studied the Topic 2 for reliability test. They proposed to use predicting time to leakage by using the Loss of Capacity based on various temperatures.
Team 8 was the eighth presentation team from CityU and they selected Topic 1. They used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to estimate the effect of uneven sample size for fluctuation on purchase period and then identified supplier performance levels.
The last presentation team (Team 9) came from CUHK and they studied on the Topic 3. They classified complaints into four characteristics included functionality, mechanical, safety and transportation.
After the judges discussion, Dr. Percy Chan (Quality & Global Supply Chain Director, GP Batteries Int’l Ltd) gave a speech to encourage student and appreciated their hardworking for the project competition.
The 2nd Runner Up was Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Team 4).
The 1st Runner Up was The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Team 1).
The Champion was The City University of Hong Kong (Team 6).
Mr. Peter Fung represented HKSQ to present souvenir to sponsor - GP team.
Finally, Mr. Peter Fung announced HKSQ would offer sponsorship to winning team of attending the ANQ conference this year.
