The webinar named “Growing your business with
innovation management standards” was organized by Small Business Standards
(SBS) in collaboration with experts from ISO/TC 279 – Innovation Management on
1st Jun 2022. In the beginning, Ms. Maitane Olabarria (Secretary
General, SBS) and Mr. Johan Claire (Chairperson – ISO/TC 279) gave welcome
speech.
The
first part discussed “The Relation between Innovation and Standard”.
She also introduced the IMS standard framework
and its non-linear and non-sequential approach for innovation.
Mr. Carlos Lopez Rodriguez (Policy Officer ICT
Standardisation Sector, European Commission) was second speaker and his topic was
“ICT standardization initiatives related to innovation, SMEs and education”. He
firstly briefed how standard bridge the innovation gap for impact at global
markets.
Then he mentioned Research and Innovation
Framework Programme which was funded by EU for supporting SMEs in
standardization.
Finally, he introduced Standards Academy in EU
that served as a knowledge-hub on key factors of the standardization ecosystem.
Some of their programs performed large-scale training through workshops for

The
second part of webinar is the ISO 56000 family of standards and their added
value for SMEs.
Finally, she briefed the structure of ISO 56002.
The fourth speaker was Dr. Sorin Cohn-Sfetcu (ISO56008
Project Leader - Tools and methods for innovation operation measurements) and
his topic named “SBS Innovation Management Town Hall” and he stated the goal of
innovation including to create value, ensure sustainability and enhance
competitiveness.
Then he briefed the innovation initiative,
process and portfolio to create value.
At the end, Dr. Sorin introduced ISO 56008
structure.
The last speakers were Mr. Ismael Arribas (CEO,
Kufud) and Mr. Hiro Nishiguchi (Managing Director at Global Entrepreneurship
Network (GEN) Japan) and their topic named “Benefits and challenges of SMEs
implementing Innovation Management Standards”. Firstly, Mr. Ismael Arribas briefed
their current situation and three levels of understanding innovation.
Then he concluded innovation that impact in new
regulations through proportionality, coherence and the distance to market.
And then Mr. Hiro Nishiguchi self-introduced and
said the innovation activities aimed to reduce the uncertainty and increase the
feasibility.
Lastly, he identified four factors to be
considered between SMEs and Innovation Management System.
