Hong
Kong Electronics & Technologies Association (HKETA) Symposium on Innovation
& Technology 2018 was co-organized with HKTDC on 13th Oct 2018. The symposium separated into two parts. Part 1 named AI Empowerment – Grow without
Limits on 13th Oct 2018 (whole day) and Part 2 named Technologies
& Success Applications in An Age of AI on 16th Oct 2018
(Morning). I attended the Part 2 on 16th
Oct 2018 and took a photo in front of the banner.
Today,
MTR had signal problem in four lines.
Even though I left early at 8:15am but I arrived the venue at
11:00am. (Symposium started at 10:30am) I was lucky that I attended all speakers’
speech. The photo showed the MTR exit in
Hung Hom station.
The first speaker was Mr. Mick Spiers (VP, Thales Revenue Collection Systems, Thales Group) and his topic named “Artificial Intelligence and Smart Mobility Solutions”.
Mr.
Spiers introduced Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and its Mobility Service Platform
structure.
Finally,
he briefed the role of AI in Mobility with different applications.
Mr.
Samuel Lo (General Manager, NVIDIA AI Technology Center, Hong Kong) was the
second speaker and his presentation entitled “Revolutionizing Smart City with
AI”. Firstly, Mr. Lo introduced the Era of AI through video and then briefed
the foundation of the smart city.
Mr. Lo used “The Big Bang” to describe the expanding universe of modern AI (including Big Data, GPU and Algorithms). He also said human accuracy for image identification about 90% but AI could achieve 97~98% (super human). Then he mentioned GPU Deep Learning was a new computing model that included Training and Inferencing.
And
then he described AI City that more smart and safe using AI so as to build
Smart City Blueprint. Many different
cases in Singapore and China were demonstrated such as OR3 (Autonomous Robots –
OTSAW) in Singapore and traffic control in China.
Finally,
Mr. Lo said NVidia established many AI Technology Centre in the world and one
of them located in Hong Kong (NVAITC.HK).
Lastly,
he briefed NVAITC.HK engagement model included Technology Enablement, Technology
Transfer and Inernship.
The
third speaker was Mr. Dennis Tam (Associate Director, Ricacorp) and his topic
was “AI for Property Industry”. Firstly,
he mentioned what factors to be considered when buy a house including location,
type, area, view and maintenance, etc.
Then
he briefed the sale channel from one to multi and then Omni. It needed to standardize company data and
using cloud.
They
also employed VR for pre-visiting house. Moreover, they used Live Chat plus AI chat bot
to service customer more effectively.
Finally,
he used a video to demonstrate how AI can help property agents gain a
competitive edge. It was their digital
transformation using Machine Learning to improve matching success rate. New staff could pick up faster.
The last speaker was Mr. Herbert Jinsong Tang (VP, Business Development, Asia Pacific, Quanergy) and his presentation entitled “LiDAR and AI Solutions for Smart City and Transportation”. First, he introduced Quanergy which was the world’s leading 3D LiDAR Sensor and Solution Innovator.
Then
Mr. Tang compared the LiDAR, Radar and Video characteristics. The advantage of
LiDAR was 3D sensing dimensions. Quanergy’s Core, Proprietary Perception
Software Platform for 3D Object Detection, Tracking and Classification.
After
that he demonstrated the Smart City Traffic Management. It included Pedestrian and Vehicle
Classification, Detection and Counting, as well as, Vehicle Speed and Direction
Monitoring. Another application was
Smart Security.
