Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) organized a study mission to visit YUNNAN University (云南大学) on 26 June 2010. The second study mission was a visit to the campus and laboratory facilities at YUNNAN University
We reached the campus of YUNNAN University. Prof. Xiaoling Lei (Vice Professor, Yunnan University; Vice Secretary of Systems Engineering Society of Yunnan Province) led us to go to “The Science Hall”.
Before the sharing, we introduced our background to YUNNAN University members individually.

Then Prof. Zhenghua Zhang (Professor, Yunnan University; Vice Manager of Systems Engineering Society of Yunnan Province; Dean of the System Engineering Centre of Yunnan University) briefed the background of the University. The sharing topic named “Project Quality Management Seminar”.
Systems Engineering Society of Yunnan Province (SESYN) established in June 1987. There were 295 individual members and 15 corporate members.
Mr. Fung (HKSQ exco member) briefed the history and the mission of Hong Kong Society for Quality.
I (for Dr. KS Chin) presented the BEng program named “Total Quality Engineering” in City University of Hong Kong.
And then a video was played to introduce the science and technology development in Hong Kong.
During the sharing session, Dr. Wang briefed the significant of integration on project management and quality management. We shared the six sigma application, Quality Control and Quality Assurance concepts in different industries.
Prof. Zhenghua Zhang briefed the MOU among Hong Kong Society for Quality, Systems Engineering Society of Yunnan Province and System Engineering Centre of Yunnan University. There were five main points for cooperation:
1) Cooperation in Quality Management included seminars, talents communication, research and consultation service
2) Participant each party organized international conferences
3) Joint application for quality management project
4) HKSQ assign experts to provide seminar to Yunnan University
5) Yunnan University assists HKSQ’s activities (e.g. seminar, training, consultation) in Yunnan
Prof. Zhang and I signed the MOU.
Then we presented HKSQ flag to Yunnan University.

After that we visited the High Performance Computing Center.
Dr. Cheung introduced the center equipment and its capability for data mining.
He briefed that “DAWNING” integrated computer was made in China.
We had a lunch with all professors of Yunnan University in the campus.
In afternoon, we visited “Stone Forest”.
We employed a tour car to visit around the stone forest.
We had dinner in the 24hr noodle restaurant.

我去石林是小時候，都成二十多年前了，石林確是一個很特別的景點，那舊石在懸於兩石中間，當時那個導遊稱這景點叫「嚇死宋美玲」。
