HKSQ representatives attended the grand opening.
Mr. Paul Yao announced of ITQM Grand opening and introduced the senior management team of ITQM. After that there was a ribbon cutting.
The first honorable guest speaker was Mr. Cliff Sun (JP, Deputy Chairman of FHKI and Executive Director of Kinox Enterprises Limited) and his topic entitled “Way-out from the Financial & Economic Tsunami”.
Mr. Sun indicated the impact of financial tsunami on FHKI members (over 3000 members). There were 10% to 20% of manufacturing factories in PRD area either already closed down or to be closed down if the situation does not improve. It is because of shrinking orders (~35%) and rising production costs (~17%). He predicted a prolonged period of recovery for world economic and restructuring & integration of manufacturing industry in China.
He advised three strategies to survive:
i) Enhance overall efficiency
ii) Create new product or service
iii) Explore emerging markets (including Chinese domestic market)
Moreover, Short-, Medium- and Long-Term Strategies were summarized in the table below.
Finally, he concluded that would be a game of “Survival of the Fittest” including “improved efficiency”, “differentiated products or services” and “accessible to huge & developing markets”.
The second honorable guest speaker was Dr. Aaron Tong (Managing Director of TQM Consultants) and his topic entitled “ITQM – Help to Improve (I) your Time (T), Quality (Q) & Money (M)”.

Initially, Dr. Tong compared the situation resulted from Great Depression (1930) and Financial Tsunami (2008). Then he recommended an approach of “Back to Basics” such as reducing of waste and improving productivity, as well as, becoming more cost-effective. After that he shared some experience, obtained from Toy and Textile industries, about achieving great improvement by using Lean approach.

5) On-Site Monitoring

The last speaker was Mr. Henry Ng from Silcon Electronics Company Limited (Watch Manufacturer) and he sharing lean project experience on “New Product Development”, “Staff” and “Production”.
