Huawei APAC Enterprise Digitalization Summit 2020 (Online)

Huawei APAC Enterprise Digitalization Summit 2020 was held on 6^th Aug 2020. It aims to discuss how ICT could help enterprises accelerate digital transformation. The first speaker was Ms. Sandra Ng (Group Vice President, Practice Group at IDC Asia/Pacific) and she discussed how adaptive enterprises through resiliency become after Covid-19 outbreak. She shared APAC CEO’s new business agenda included Critical Infrastructure, Customers, Capabilities and Industry Ecosystem.

Then she briefed 5Cs in the house of digital resiliency from Create to Calibrate to Control to Compute & Connectivity and then to Compete as new operating and business models.

Finally, she mentioned four key sourcing for digital resiliency capabilities including Infrastructure, Integration, Integrity and Insight.

The second speaker was Mr. Liqing Su (Vice President, Huawei’s Cloud Business Unit) and he shared the challenges faced on the “Road to Digital Transformation”. Firstly, he briefed the transformation from mindset, organization, culture, method and model.

After that he introduced two-way dynamic from Customer-centric to Business focus and Architecture guided, and then from Cloud to Big Data to AI for digital transformation in organization.

Lastly, he mentioned the digital transformation of Culture AS-IS to TO BE. He concluded four steps for digital transformation that Corporate Strategy (Concerted efforts), Business + Technology (Dual driving forces), Align Goals with Value (Think big, start small) and Bimodal IT (Coexistence of legacy & agile).

The third speaker was Mr. Jim Lim (Healthcare Sector Lead, NCS) and his topic presented was “When Pandemic & Technology Meet”. He shared a case study of how to use digital technology to help to fight the Covid-19 in CIF.

In early April, Mr. Lim employed Telehealth to integrate remote diagnostics device so as to provide necessary service to patient.

At the end, he briefed their solution in combating Covid-19 through Telco Data Based approach to tracking the pandemic situation and for predication.

The fourth speaker was Mr. Jimmy Ng (CIO and Head of Group, Technology & Operations, DBS Bank) and this topic entitled “The Trilogy of DBS Transformation Journey”. Firstly he mentioned DBS concept from inside out to outside in since 2009.

Then Mr. Jimmy Ng stated DBS Data Transformation to building culture capability, enabling usage and building scalable and secure platforms.

Finally, he started rethinking the future of banking. Five technologies which were Cloud, AI/ML, 5G, IoT and Blockchain would be played very critical roles and Privacy Engineering became more and more important. Lastly, he concluded trilogy to be “Getting the right talent”, “Creating the right mindset” and “Building the right culture” such as Agile, Becoming a learning organization, Customer-obsessed, Data-driven and Experiment & take risks.

The fifth speaker was Mr. WK Leung (CTO, Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group) and his presentation named “Reinvent Campus: Fully Wireless, Fully Optical, Fully Intelligent”. He said AS-IS system was siloed subsystems and To-Be system would be Connectivity, Convergence and Openness.

Then he introduced Huawei Intelligent Campus Brain in their digital platform to be aa unified intelligent operation center. He also said it would employ optical fiber & Wi-Fi 6 which would be powered and complemented by 5G.

The sixth speaker was Mr. Brandon Wu (CTO, EBG Asia Pacific, Huawei) and his topic was “IP+Optical+5G Path to Fully Convergent Intelligent Campus”. He introduced different technical setup to achieve it.

Finally, seamless management infrastructure was introduced. Lastly, Mr. Wu shared the Huawei Vision and Mission that “Bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world.”
