I (Former Chairman of HKSQ) was honor to be invited
by both Dr. Sammy Wan (Head of Quality, Safety and Envir., Analogue Group of
Companies - ATAL) and Dr. Aaron Tong (Former Chairman of HKSQ) to attend HKIE
MI Division Gala Dinner on 15 Jan 2016.

I met some old friend Ir. Davis Liu (Senior Manager
– Training and Development, Kowloon Bay Training Centre, Construction Industry
Council) who also joined ANQ Congress with Dr. Sammy Wan in the past. Mr. Coleman Tse (Sales & Marketing
Director, BSI) was my old friends too. (Left 1st row: Mr. Coleman Tse and

In the beginning, Ir. SC Ho (Chairman, HKIE-MI
Division) gave a welcome speech. He
briefed the industry 4.0 and smart city that could bring many opportunity to
Hong Kong. Then he introduced the
keynote speaker Professor Lu Jian.
The keynote
speech was Professor Lu Jian (Vice President of City University of Hong Kong)
and his topic named “The Hong Kong’s role in “Made in China 2025” initiatives”. Firstly, he briefed 5 key elements of made in
America and they were “Design”, “Material”, “Process”, “AM Genome” and “Value Chain”. Then he
mentioned Industry 4.0 which was a part of the German High Tech 2020 plan in
order to enhance its capacity for integrating Cyber Physical Systems and to
achieve the goal “Design by German”.
After that
Prof. Lu briefed the comparison among Made in China 2025, Industry 4.0
(Germany) and Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (USA). He stated 5 strategy of Chinese Innovation
below:
1.
Support
Original Innovation by building up the environment and platforms;
2.
Developing
Chinese Manufacturing Core Technologies;
3.
Promote
Created by China;
4.
Enhance
the IP protection;
5.
Created
new Chinese value chain.
Finally, Prof.
Lu mentioned value chain of precious metal and explained how Apple to create
value in “Apple Gold” through advanced materials and manufacturing. Lastly, he briefed some research and entrepreneur
cases.
Then all HKETA
committee members and VIPs took a group photo.
Then HKIE MI
Division chairman and committee member took a song performance and Ir. Dr. Hon
Lo Wai Kwok, BBS, MH, JP (Fellow of HKIE) performed music.
YC Chow also
joined and sang a song.
Ir. Dr. Hon Lo

Then he sang a
song named “誓要去入刀山” with Robotiod dancer.
