I
with CityU and PolyU friends to visit PolyU Cyber-Physical System Laboratory
and Industrial Centre on 6th Jan 2021. Firstly, we met Dr. Carman Lee (Asso.
Professor, ISE, PolyU) and discussed how to contribute for students in terms of
smart manufacturing internship, work integrated experience, etc.
The Cyber-Physical System Laboratory is under
Department of Industrial and System Engineering, PolyU and its previous was
RFID laboratory.
I
took a photo in front of Dual Arm Robot.
Other robots were demonstrated. The most difficult to handle was five fingers
robot arm.
After that we visit Industrial Centre and went to the
University Research Facility – 3D Printing Technology.
Dr. CC Cheung (Senior Engineering Manager (Additive
Manufacturing), Industrial Centre, PolyU) led us to visit the centre.
He introduced different types of 3D Printing Technology
and most projects were related to medical and health science.
Then he briefed the metal additive manufacturing
technology for 3D metal printing.
Two metal 3D printers were showed.
Dr. Cheung described the products.
The most advanced 3D printer is AJ300 Printed
Electronic System which was employed Aerosol Jet Printing technology. The equipment is purchased from USA before
and only one in Hong Kong.
It could print senor circuit for testing.
Details of specification is showed in this label.
Finally, we had a meeting and it was observed that
each seat was separated by transparent plastic sheet for Covid-19 control.
