Food safety has become a major concern over the world. I was honor to be invited by Dr. SW Chan to visit Food Safety and Technology Research Centre (FSTRC) in the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 13 March 2012.
Food Safety and Technology Research Centre was established in 2011. It aims to establish a world-class research platform for the study of food safety related issues.
The another part is located at Hong Kong Science Park, with an area of 3500 sq ft, it provides testing services to the industry and conducts research on analytical chemistry.
In the centre, a series of room used for food taste testing.
Dr. Chan said the room had installed different color light to minimize the effect of food appearance.
Inside the laboratory, different food packaging equipments were set up.
