Holiday in Hokkaido, Japan (Part I)

After ANQ 2009 Congress held from 15 to 18 Sep 2009 in Tokyo, we went to Hokkaido for Holiday.

Interesting experience and some study points can be found from the following photos:

The building that I saw made me think about the golden egg in Hong Kong Science Park.

Sapporo (札幌)

We had buffet dinner at a restaurant called “蝦蟹合戰 <えびかに合戰>” on the first day at Sapporo.

We visited Ishiya Chocolate Factory (白之戀人) and their production lines.
The video briefed the history of chocolate manufacturing, in which two children were put in the process via projection technology.

On the production floor, processing was allocated in a clean room-type environment.
There were chocolate-biscuits samples, as reference standard, to help operators doing on-line quality control.

Lastly, the biscuits were delivered for individual-packing.

We then came to “Quality Inspection Room”. It was a small laboratory in which different tests, including “Sensory Test”, “Microorganism Test” and “Foreign Material Test”, were performed.

Environment monitoring (e.g. Temp and RH) and incubators.

Some other products could be found in Ishiya Chocolate Factory (白之戀人).

Otaru (小樽)
Firstly, we came to The Glass Studio in Otaru (小樽運河工藝館).

We had lunch in Sankaku Market (三角市場).

The oyster was fine but the fish (八角魚原名「得鰭」) was not as good as our expected.

We arrived at Otaru Station and went to the Silver Bell (銀之鐘 - 冰之世界).

At night, we came back to hotel and had dinner in “Kushiro Ramen Kawamura Noodle shops” (札幌拉麵共和國)

The special design of spoon was found very useful.
