Prof. Hong Sung-Hoon (Former President, KSQM) visit PolyU 2026

Prof. Hong Sung-Hoon (Professor of industrial engineering at Chonbuk National University in Korea; Former President of the Korean Society for Quality Management (KSQM)) and Mrs. Hong visited Hong Kong from 7th to 10th Jan 2026 and visited Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on 7th Jan 2025. We always meet at the ANQ Congress. We took a photo in front of the Department of Computing, PolyU.


Then we visited University Library. Before that Prof. Hong and Mrs. Hong took a photo in front of the university logo.


We took a photo together and then entered the library.


They also visited our university gallery that showed the development history of PolyU in Hong Kong.


Afterwards, we visited the PolyU Jockey Club Innovation Tower, which usually host performances that combine art and technology. We took photos in front of the tower.


I showed Prof. Hong the lecture hall inside the Innovation Tower.


And then we took a photo of our university's motto: "Learn and apply for the benefit of mankind."


Finally, I showed them around our new staff restaurant, "U Garden." Since they had another appointment in Tsim Sha Tsui, we didn't have time for afternoon tea there.


Lastly, we took a photo at the entrance of PolyU and then took the MTR to leave.


Prof. Hong told me that he joined ANQ 2012 in Hong Kong and his daughter performed PSY Gangnam Style during dala dinner.

Remember Dr. Nguyen Quang Toan, the greatest-ever figure of Vietnam Quality Academics and Empiricist

A deeply sad news received from Dr. Franceaco Trần Văn Liêng (Chaiman of VQAH, Vietnam) on 1st Jan 2026 that the passing of Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Toan, who passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 91. He was the Founder of the Ho Chi Minh City Quality Association (VQAH) and served as its first President. Notably, he was also the representative of Vietnam to receive the prestigious Ishikawa-Kano Award years ago, a testament to his exceptional contributions to the field of quality management on an international scale. We lost a quality professional in ANQ family. Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) expressed hearty condolences to Dr. Nguyen Quang Toan’s family, friends and colleagues.


I found our first meeting was in ANQ 2011 and then I collect some photos for memory.


We had gala dinner together.


Dr. Nguyen Quang Toan (Former Chairman, VQAH) received the Ishikawa-Kano Award (IKA) in ANQ 2015, Taipei.


Remember Dr. Nguyen Quang Toan’s contribution in Vietnam Quality and RIP.

COMP Teaching Colleagues Farewell Dinner with Dr. Kevin Yuen

Tonight, Dr. Jeff Tang, Dr. Raymond Pang and I had dinner with Dr. Kevin Yuen for celebrating his new academic journey in Malaysia soon. It is Kevin’s farewell dinner. 


Thanks Jeff’s red wine!


Moreover, it is also celebrated me to be elected as COMP department representative in the senate. We had a happy dinner. Before left, we took a group photo in front of PolyU brand for memory.

We are looking forward to visit Kevin serviced university in Malaysia soon.

2026 New Year’s Day Wudang Tai Chi Collective Training (元旦集訓)

Minda and I joined 2026 New Year’s Day Wudang Tai Chi (秘傳武當太極拳班) Collective Training (元旦集訓) on 1st Jan 2026 in Bamboo Forest Taoist Temple (⽵林道觀). 


We (I team members) took a group photo with Master Andy Law (羅哲英).


Minda and I took a photo with Mr. Henry Wong (王廣漢師兄) in front of the Lu Zu Temple (呂祖殿).


Then I team took a group photo.


And then Mr. Law gave opening speech before training start.


Mr. Tsang (曾忠南道長) welcome all to visit Bamboo Forest Taoist Temple (⽵林道觀).


Afterwards, we started the training for foundation of fixed step single push (定步單推⼿)


The next session was guests talks. Master Andy Law introduced guests for the coming talks.


The first speaker was Taoist priest Mr. Tsang (曾忠南道長) and his talk named “Introduction to Taoist Sects” (道教派別簡介). He said the key schools are the Zhengyi (正一派) and the Quanzhen (全真派). There were 86 schools in the late Qing Dynasty. He also quoted Lu Xun (魯迅) that the root of China lies in Taoism (中國的根基在於道教).


The second speaker was Dr. Kwong Siu Kai (鄺紹佳博士 香港註冊中醫師) and his topic was “The Health Preservation Principles of the Secretly Transmitted Wudang Tai Chi from the Perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine” (從中醫角度看<秘傳武當太極拳>的養生之道). He said practice of Tai Chi had better in the morning (on or before noon).


The last speaker was Mr. Lau (劉任承 亞太貸款市場公會主席 (2019-2021)) and his topic entitled “Investment Market Trends in 2026” (2026投資市場大勢). Gold, AI related stocks and inflation should be considered.


Finally, we had lunch together for good vegetarian dishes. Since we had duties tomorrow and left early, other members would practice the fixed step single push (定步單推⼿) afterwards.
