Visit to ACP for COMP Student’s Capstone Project 2026

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Peter Suen for PolyU COMP Capstone Project at ActiveCarePharmacy Limited (ACP) in 2026 again. I took my students (Mr. Au Yueng Tsz Pui, Kevin and Ms. TAN Paula Katryn Wang, Paula) to visit ACP on 27^th July 2026 to understand the project background. We took a group photo in the main entry of ACP.

ACP engineer Jack explained the operating procedures to them.

Mr. Du (杜工) also explained the special process and demonstrated the entire procedure.

Finally, we took a photo in front of the new automatic medical dispensation machine for memory. Kevin just graduated, and we hope this opportunity will be helpful for his future career development.

Lunch with Prof. YH Hung and Industrial Center Colleagues

I invited Prof. YH Hung (LMS Dept.) and Industrial Center (IC) Colleagues Dr. CC Cheung and Dr. Hans Xiao to have lunch on 4^th Jun 2026. Prof. Hung’s mainland students of MSc in QM will visit Hong Kong campus and would like to arrange a visit to IC.

Prof. Hung’s Mainland China students (MSc in QM) will visit PolyU in July and I would like to arrange a visit to our Industrial Centre. Then Dr. CC Cheung led us to pre-visit. The first location is Research Centre for Assistive Technology.

And then we visited Maker space and 3D printing.

After that we went to the Robotic laboratory.

We also took a photo in front of logistics demon by HAI Robotics which is startup in Science Park before.

Finally, we visited the group floor for Construction 3D Printing. It is a very good trip to introduce IC to different departments and mainland master students.

Lunch with Prof. YH Hung and Tea with HKIE friends

I was honor to have lunch with Prof. YH Hung again. We met Prof. Shengjiang Lu, Grant (Professor of Practice (Accounting), who served in School of Accounting & Finance, in U Green, PolyU.

Prof. Hung’s Mainland China students (MSc in QM) will visit PolyU in July and I would like to arrange a visit to our Industrial Centre.

After lunch, I visited Prof. Hung’s office and Department of Logistics & Maritime Studies.

When I went to staff canteen, I met my senior classmate Mr. Yip Wai Yuen in BCH, CityU.

And then I met Dr. Vincent Fung and Dr. YC Chau for tea. I am appreciated for their nomination of HKIE fellowship.

Prof. Hong Sung-Hoon (Former President, KSQM) visit PolyU 2026

Prof. Hong Sung-Hoon (Professor of industrial engineering at Chonbuk National University in Korea; Former President of the Korean Society for Quality Management (KSQM)) and Mrs. Hong visited Hong Kong from 7^th to 10^th Jan 2026 and visited Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on 7^th Jan 2025. We always meet at the ANQ Congress. We took a photo in front of the Department of Computing, PolyU.

Then we visited University Library. Before that Prof. Hong and Mrs. Hong took a photo in front of the university logo.

We took a photo together and then entered the library.

They also visited our university gallery that showed the development history of PolyU in Hong Kong.

Afterwards, we visited the PolyU Jockey Club Innovation Tower, which usually host performances that combine art and technology. We took photos in front of the tower.

I showed Prof. Hong the lecture hall inside the Innovation Tower.

And then we took a photo of our university's motto: "Learn and apply for the benefit of mankind."

Finally, I showed them around our new staff restaurant, "U Garden." Since they had another appointment in Tsim Sha Tsui, we didn't have time for afternoon tea there.

Lastly, we took a photo at the entrance of PolyU and then took the MTR to leave.

Prof. Hong told me that he joined ANQ 2012 in Hong Kong and his daughter performed PSY Gangnam Style during dala dinner.

Meeting in ACP for IT Project Cooperation

After Student Capstone Project visit at ActiveCarePharmacy Limited (ACP), Mr. Peter Suen would like to cooperate with IT expert for developing a new IT platform with HA. I introduced my friend, Mr. Matthew Tsui, and we arranged to meet on 18^th Oct 2025.

We discussed the cooperation opportunities for new requirement from HA in coming years. I appreciated Peter Suen and Matthew Tsui to be COMP student industrial advisor and gave many opportunities to my students.

Visit to ACP for COMP Student’s Capstone Project

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Peter Suen for supporting my student Mr. YEUNG Chun San, Billy’s Capstone Project at ActiveCarePharmacy Limited (ACP). I took Billy to visit ACP on 17^th Oct 2025 to understand the project background.

Before discussion of the student project, I on behalf of HKSQ/WACQ presented the award named “Model of World Chinese Quality Culture Construction (Organization Award)” (全球华人品质文化建設典範（组织类获奖）) to Peter’s team. The award was grant during the 10th World Summit of Chinese Quality (第十屆全球華人品質峰會).

Then Peter and his son Hubert explained the entire process of packaging medicines for the elderly.

Afterwards, Hubert explained the prototype of the automated packaging inspection machine.

Results of a preliminary inspection using an iPad to display the quantity and location of medicines during prototype monitoring.

The inspection camera image is displayed.

Finally, we took a photo with Mr. Peter Suen and Engineer Mr. Du in front of the new automatic medical dispensation machine.

After the tour, Billy and I had lunch together and then went back to PolyU.

CityUHK (Dongguan) ITME Students Visit to ATL

Prof. YC Chau and I had taught the program named “Bachelor of Engineering in Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering (BEng ITME) 工學士 (智能製造工程學)” in CityUHK Donggang (DG) in 2025. Our lecture named “SYE 2066: Professional Engineering Practice” and included one industrial visit. Prof. Chau arranged the visit to Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) on 11^th Oct 2025.

In the travel bus, Prof. YC Chau briefed the company background and rules of visit to students.

I took a photo inside the bus with students.

ATL is near to CityU and only 30 min travel time.

We arrived and meet Dr. Luk Chi Fai and Dr. CK Cheung as well as management of ATL.

YC and I took a photo in front of the welcome electronic banner.

In the beginning, Prof. YC Chau gave welcoming speech to students.

Then Ms. Yu introduced the ATL products and service.

ATL is the world’s leading producer and innovator of lithium-ion batteries.

Dr. Mike Chang was the spirit leader in ATL and his history was posted for memory.

We were in the hall.

Ms. Shelly Yu briefed the arrangement to us.

Then Dr. Rock Tao used some stories to introduce the growth of ATL. First, he remembered Dr. Mike Chang story for starting ATL (永不言 “氣”). Then he told us how to receive the Apple’s business ( “i” 由芯生), and then he explained how to get the opportunities and avoid disaster like Note 7 (“芯” 火燎原). After that he said the path to be the number one in this field (為 “鋰” 把關). Finally, Dr. Rock Tao explained how hard to achieve the requirement of automotive requirement from BMW (“馬” 到功成).

Lastly, he summarized their experience of Innovation through six thinkings (Think holistic、in-depth、out-of-box、discipline、just fit and people) and seven persistence principles.

Then another engineering representative of ATL introduced their digital transformation and different systems.

Finally, Prof. YC Chau concluded some learning points to students.

We took a group photo together.

Then we started to visit the production lines and we needed to wear shoe covers. (No photo taken inside)

After the visit, we had lunch in the staff canteen.

We took a photo during the lunch.

Then we walked back to the main building.

We passed by the Central Laboratory, which reminded me of a visit I had long ago to TDK's laboratory, where the facilities were as advance as Science Park.
