Dr. KS Chin, Dr. YC Chau,
Dr. Vincent Fung and I led students from “Bachelor of Engineering in Intelligent
Manufacturing Engineering (BEng ITME) 工學士 (智能製造工程學)” to visit Sanwa Biotech Limited on 9th
Nov 2021. It was one of two visits from the course of ASDE 2066 “Professional
Engineering Practice”. We took a group photo for memory.
Our travel bus
started from CityU to Sanwa Biotech Limited in Fo Tan.
We arrived and went
into the industrial building.
Then Mr. William Yim
(Executive Chairman & CTO, Sanwa Biotech Limited) led us into meeting room.
Since many student,
we separated into two meeting room using zoom to connect both room students.
In the beginning, Mr.
William Yim introduced his previous experience on micro joining technology including
laser micro machining.
When he briefed the
biomedical application using UV short pulse laser, he said this technology
inspired him to do the existing business.
And then he developed
microfluidic chip for Lab-on-Chip Systems.
Now he developed to the 3rd generation.
After that he shared
his company’s roadmap since 2012 and we observed many certificates obtained such
as ISO 13485, CE mark, and applying FDA.
Finally, we separated
two team of students to visit different part of Sanwa. Mr. William Yim
demonstrated his product to students.
He also introduced
the cleanroom that is ISO Level 7 (Class 10,000).
The automatic
assembly machine was showed and explained. Since the installation was not
completed, so we could observe it very closely without wearing cleanroom cloth.
After the machine installation, the ISO Level 7 cleanroom would be operated.
In the future, visitors
were only observation this operation by monitor.
During visit, I
observed a slogan very inspiriting that “Dream Big, Work Hard, Stay Focused,
and Surround Yourself with Good People”.
