PolyU Drama“Distinguished Chinese Scientist - Qian Xuesen”

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) original drama (《錢學森》原創話劇) “Distinguished Chinese Scientist - Qian Xuesen” was performed at Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 25^th and 26^th Sep 2024. Minda and I joined the drama on 26^th Sep and took a photo in front of banner. 

Before the drama, we had quick dinner in staff canteen.

When we went to the Auditorium, I met my old classmate Prof. Kenneth Leung (Chair Professor, CHEM Dept., CityU) and took a photo for memory.

Many students attended the drama. It is good for the new generation to know about the great scientists who had significant contribution to China.

PolyU President and SJTU Vice President gave opening speech and took a group photo before the show.

Finally, all the actors took their final bow.

The drama let me remember Liu Yuanzhang (劉源張) that we met in ANQ Congress 2011 in Vietnam. At the invitation of Qian Xuesen (錢學森), Liu Yuanzhang (劉源張) returned to China after 15 years of absence from his motherland to work in the Operations Research Laboratory of the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and established China's first quality management research group.

In my understanding, Qian Xuesen (錢學森) should also be the Father of Systems Engineering in China!

Wudang Tai Chi Class 20th Anniversary Dinner (武當太極拳班20週年聚餐)

Minda and I just got back from the ANQ conference in Japan at noon. And then we attended the 20th anniversary dinner of Wudang Tai Chi Class on 21^st Sep 2024. 

We took a photo together with Master Andy Law (羅哲英) and Mrs. Law.

Before the dinner, senior brothers and sisters had dancing and Kungfu shows.

Another show was Secret Wudang Tai Chi (秘傳武當太極拳).

They prepared balloon cakes for 20th Anniversary of Wudang Tai Chi Class.

The Vice President of the Hong Kong Taoist Association (香港道教聯合會) presented a poem to Mr. Andy Law. The Chinese poem is “五行配陰陽外剛內柔傳哲理, 八卦原太極有教無類育英才.”

The next day we had lunch with Mr. Andy Law to celebrate his birthday.

IAQ General Meeting in JUSE and Dinner 2024

The IAQ General Meeting was held on 20^th Sep 2024 in JUSE, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan. After completed ANQ technical visit, we went to JUSE office for attending IAQ General Meeting. Minda and I took a photo in front of the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) for memory. 

When I arrived, it is the last part of keynote speech. In the morning, Mr. Shinichi Sasaki was the first keynote and his topic entitled “JKK Initiatives at Toyota corresponding to changing Social & Customer Needs”. Afternoon, Dr. Nicole Radziwill was the second keynote and her topic named “Quality-Driven AI: Pioneering a New Age of Digital Excellence”. 

I met many friends and took a photo during break.

The third keynote was Prof. Hiroe Tsubaki and his presentation topic was “Quality Management of AI & AI for Quality Management”. He discussed “Actionable Knowledge from Data” that data are for prediction and action.

Finally, Prof. Hiroe Tsubaki employed PDCA Daily Management Cycle together with QC Story for Kaizen that named “Deming-Ishikawa’s Dual Management Cycles” for problem solving. He then mentioned necessary quality management of data production process and improving through ISO 20252:2019 (Market, opinion and social research, including insights and data analytics — Vocabulary and service requirements).

Many academicians attended the meeting and discussed. 

Acn. Lars Sörqvist (President, IAQ) joined panel discussion online.

And then Prof. Yukihiro Ando employed ChatGPT (GenAI) to define good AI required good data and then discussed the result with keynotes.

Prof. Kano gave his comments and discussed with other participants.

Finally, JUSE introduced the coming ICQ 2025 would be held on 1-4 Sep 2025 in Bellesalle Shinjuku Grand.

Lastly, Mr. Shinichi Sasaki (Chair of IAQ, President of JUSE) gave closing meeting remarks.

After that we went to the restaurant named “Neboke” which provided traditional Japanese food.
