CityU Eminence Society (CityUES) sponsored
a seminar named “Our relationship with the One Belt, One Road Initiative” (「一帶一路如何與你息息相關」) in the Eminence Galaxy Alumni
Function Room on 26th May 2016.
CityU Eminence Society (CES) has established on 31 Dec 2010. Our mission
is “To unite senior alumni to proactively contribute their resources, expertise
and networks to help advance the University and serve the community”. Before
the seminar, I took a photo with Dr. Wilson Chan Fung-Cheung (Advisor and Founding
Member, CES) and Mr Chan Yung Brave (Vice-Chairman, CES; Chairman, New
Territories Association of Societies) for memory.
Before the seminar, Mr Chan Yung
Brave introduced CityU Eminence Society and invited senior management alumni to
participate the society.
In the beginning, Dr. Wilson Chan
Fung-Cheung introduced his financial background and establishing the BRGDA「一帶一路國際發聯盟」. He briefed today’s talk in four
key topics below.

Then he mentioned the Thirteen
Five Plan (十三五規劃) with 5 elements and they were Innovation, Coordination, Green, Open
and Share.
Dr. Wilson Chan demonstrated the
video from Chinese Academy of Governance (國家行政學院) to introduce OBOR. It focused
on 5 policies communication included Culture, Technology, Medical, Education
and Travel.
And then Dr. Chan explained why
China is a big country but not a strong country because China hasn’t the power
of rules setting and been treated unfairly.
The following diagram summarized
the OBOR countries and regions.
After that Dr. Chan explained
what role Hong Kong to be played such as the 1st RMB Offshore Centre,
investment, job, study, leisure, political, religion and knowledge, etc. In the
Thirteen Five Plan, one of missions is deepen cooperation with HK, Macao and
Taiwan which help to build the Guangdong-HK-Macao Big Bay Area (粵港澳大灣區生態圈).
Finally, Dr. Chan briefed the
summary of OBOR Initiative in one slide included:

ii)
Core areas / Circles,
iii)
Communities,
iv)
Beliefs,
v)
Cooperative Priorities,
so as to create People-to-People
bond.
At the end, he explained the
analysis of OBOR infrastructure to us.
