A deeply sad news published by China Association
for Quality (CAQ) website on 10th Mar 2026 that Mr. Chen Ban Zhu (陳邦柱) founding chairman
of CAQ passed away on 8th Feb 2026 in Beijing at the age of 91. As
president of the CAQ (2000–2012), Mr. Chen Ban Zhu advanced the “quality first”
philosophy, pioneered the “Big Quality” concept, relaunched the National
Quality Award, and significantly boosted the quality competitiveness of Chinese
organizations during China’s entry into the WTO.
I first met Mr. Chen Ban Zhu at the Asian
Quality Network (ANQ) Congress held in Vietnam in
2011, where the HKSQ team took a group photo with him.
Subsequently, he led the China Association for
Quality (CAQ) to participate in the first China Quality Forum (CQF) and
delivered the opening speech in 2012. After three China Quality Forums, we
established the pre-World Alliance for Chinese Quality (WACQ) and organized the WACQ
Summit (or World Summit for Chinese Quality, WSCQ), which is now in its
eleventh year.
We lost a quality professional in CAQ and WACQ family. Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) expressed
hearty condolences to Mr. Chen Ban Zhu’s family, friends and colleagues.
Remember Mr. Chen Ban Zhu (陳邦柱) contribution in Chinese Quality and RIP.
